NYnewsFan 0 Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 For those who might care - channel 2 is upgrading their high Def equipment. http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6524018.html
DMA 135 Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 It's about time. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with anything, but WCBS has new side bars, and reports no longer have them, only footage from other sources. Edit: They just had 16:9 footage.
ElliotJones 52 Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Looks like all the CBS O&Os are going to XDCAM, which has a perfect workflow for ENG. DVCPRO was really intended for cuts-only linear editing which didn't really allow for much flexibility in the field, but it got the story out faster. Since XDCAM is file-based, you can just connect the camera to a field laptop via FireWire and edit on an NLE right in the field - pretty cool stuff.
SuitSnob 19 Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Just what Don Dahler needs...his bad suits and roots showing even MORE!
DMA 135 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 No. 1080p is not going to be available as a broadcast standard for a while. 1080p is only really available on HD disc.
DMA 135 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Here is the large version, can't get it any smaller, without it looking like it's HD.
Vlad 334 Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Doesn't seem like a true difference from before, the quality looks better though. Would be cool if everything was in HD, field cameras, live shots, etc. But again it is a step up and we always like that!
