Ntropolis 599 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Any stations in your area running on-screen crawls about the swtch to DTV? I've seen WAVY and WVEC doing it, when I was out-of-town last week I saw one on WFXB...
newsie 11 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I saw WVBT do it yesterday during the race at Martinsville.
tyrannical bastard 4036 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I was in Birmingham this weekend and saw it during the sports segments on ABC 33/40s newscasts.
takingaction4you 4 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 KDKA is running a DTV transition note during their AM newscasts. It's the basic information about the date and the website to get the coupons.
Amra 171 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Here all 3 major channels and the Public TV are doing crossed promotions with their on air talent on other stations talking about the switch
CDubya87 0 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 FOX14 and KOAM are running crawls. KODE/KSNF have been running a promo campaign.
l14dap 1 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 KVOA ran the crawls last night during The Tonight Show. I thought it might've been a weather alert or something, but realized it was for the switch for DTV after I started reading it.
YoungstownTV 0 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 WFMJ ran it a few times during daytime shows.
Tyler 151 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 KDKA is running a DTV transition note during their AM newscasts. It's the basic information about the date and the website to get the coupons. WTAE is also running a few commercials during the AM as well. Haven't seen any on WPXI to my memory.
abric 181 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 WUSA ran it this evening during The Big Bang Theory
newsie 11 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 'TKR hasn't been doing cralws, but I've seen PSA-like spots for them constantly. We recently swithced to Verizon FiOS and they've been droing crawls occasionally in our area.
Ntropolis 599 Posted April 1, 2008 Author Posted April 1, 2008 Most stations have been running the DTVAnswers PSAs for a while... the crawls have been a new thing that have come up in the past week.
mediadorkx07 0 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 http://wtnh.tv/blogs/index.php/wtnh/2008/03/31/on-air-messages-about-digital-tv#more1611
Mario500 3 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 WPMI has recently begun running a digital TV ticker during syndicated programs "Live with Regis and Kelly" and "The Martha Stewart Show" and the NBC serial "Days of Our Lives". The transparent "DTV" logo spins on the right side of the screen. WALA doesn't runs such a ticker, but their "sister station" WBPG runs one during the end credits of syndicated programming. On the left end of the ticker is a snowy TV set. It's interesting to note that WBPG is currently not broadcasting in digital, but it was briefly on WALA's digital sub-channel.
tvweatherman 0 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I saw one run on KMOV the other night, and one on KSDK tonight during the 10PM News.
who?cares 255 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 All the Indy stations are running the same promotion with the news directors from all the stations.
mbhcity 3 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Most of the LA stations now have HD crawls...the rest have promos. All stations except for the FOX duopoly now (or will) produce news in HD.
Mario500 3 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I have just discovered that WALA now runs a digital TV ticker like "sister station" WBPG. I guess the public service announcements and the daily DTV reminders on the newscasts are not enough for WALA.
The Observer 0 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I have seen it on WLNY, which I think already went digital, and WNYE.
qunewsguy 378 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 From what I've heard, the crawls are actually an FCC requirement.

I don't understand what you're saying... this is about stations running crawls about the switch to digital TV, it has nothing to do with HD.
Alain 17 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Only station I've seen doing here it is WFLX Fox 29.
