312newswannabe 11 Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Harold and Ann were off the air last night and tonight w/ Paul Magers anchoring the 6pm show on CBS2 solo...their bios are still online, does anyone think they'll come back before they "retire"...Hopefully they'll pop up at another station in town, although I know how unlikely that is...from the daily news... Harold Greene, Ann Martin depart in CBS newsroom layoffs in L.A. and across the country By David Kronke, TV Writer Article Last Updated: 04/01/2008 06:16:21 PM PDT Sources at Los Angeles television stations KCBS-TV (Channel 2) and KCAL-TV (Channel 9) confirmed that their stations have fallen victim to the same series of newsroom cuts that have affected other CBS owned-and-operated affiliates throughout the country. Among those departing are Harold Greene and Ann Martin, who co-anchor the KCAL newscast at 4 p.m. and the KCBS newscast at 6 p.m. Both have decided to retire when their contracts expire on June 1. In all, fewer than 20 have lost their jobs at the two local stations. Reporters Jennifer Sabih and Jennifer Davis also were let go, the Hollywood trade magazine Variety reported.
News4LA 0 Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 We might see Harold on Wednesday. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i8fbe0ebdf552a9faad8b17d9a804ad56 Martin and Greene, whose contracts were coming up for renewal, are co-anchors on KCAL's 4 p.m. newscast and KCBS' 6 p.m. newscast. They did not appear on Monday's or Tuesday's telecasts, but Greene was planning to return to work Wednesday. Martin's plans were uncertain.
rtmclaug 70 Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Sad to see two great news personalities ride off into the sunset. I wish both of them well. They're a tough act to follow.
former newsboy 52 Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Anyone know why their bios r still up on the station website? They didn't waste any time yanking the ones in Chicago. Are there still signs of life for Ann & Harold at CBS 2 / KCAL 9? http://cbs2.com/bios
mbhcity 3 Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 It probably has to do with the fact their contracts have not expired yet, thus they still are on payroll, either that or lazy station maintenace.
rtmclaug 70 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Their contracts expire at the end of the month, so I feel that we won't see any changes until a few days after June begins.
rtmclaug 70 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I just checked cbs2.com and both Harold's and Ann's bios are still listed. So, either they're still around or management is a little slow on the uptake.
Amra 171 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 BTW, Paul Magers got the 6 o clock show for him? And who anchors KCAL 9 News @ 8pm now that Harold is off?
nbc9houston 22 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 And what about the 4:00 p.m. newscast on KCAL 9 that Ann and Harold anchored together?
rtmclaug 70 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 It looks like Rick Chambers took over for Harold at 8. I think Paul did take over at 6, but it didn't say on his bio at cbs2.com.
Amra 171 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Sandra Mitchell should be on at 6 with Paul. She's a top notch anchor
rtmclaug 70 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Both Harold and An still have their bios on cbs2.com. I checked the KCBS-TV article on Wikipedia, and it says that they are on leave and their futures are up in the air at this point in time. Whatever the situation turns out to be, I hope it gets resolved soon.
l14dap 1 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I'd be extremely skeptical of any Wikipedia entry that is as grammatically weak as the KCBS/KCAL articles.
