I for one am happy for this, this just slaps the far right agenda right in the face and rightfully so, so all the o'reillys, scarboroughs, and hannitys trying to make this nation an already zealous christian nation than it already is...SUCK IT WILL YA?!

Enough of my ranting, what are your thoughts?

The whole idea of censorship itself is stupid. I've seen non-censored broadcast TV in Ireland, and nothing is wrong with a bit of cursing. If you don'tlike it, don't watch it. The FCC is just trying to start a moral panic.

I could go on a huge rant about how much the "Christian" right, including the PTC have been pissing me off over the past few years trying to impose religious doctrine on the whole US population but I would be diverting this thread in a different direction.

On the topic, I'm glad that CBS won't be fined. They had no control over this freak accident and they shouldn't be punished over this. This whole incident had the broadcasting industry on edge and over-zelous about what they could and could not air. Remember when ABC tried to air "Saving Private Ryan". Nearly half the affilates (I could be exaggerating) didn't air it because they were too afraid of being fined. Maybe now the broadcaster can finally relax.

If anyone should've been fined, it's Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake.

Good! The fine was stupid, and if anything, Janet "Look-At-Me Attention-Getter" Jackson and Justin Timberlake should have gotten the fine.

Isn't it hilarious that an exposed breast (European TV isn't afraid of nudity) turns into a "striptease" according to the PTC president?

the thing is this...the christian right thinks that by pushing the agenda, bringing up the issue of nudity and in shield of the children, they're thinking that they represent ALL of america who thinks they share the same ideology as them....absolutely NOT! I don't know about you, but there is a silent minority where many people like a little tit and ass and dick and shoot 'em up action a thing or two, pushing the envelope there.

and the thing about this, chris and eveybody, that the same children they're shielding are the same children who are curious looking at porn (tv or web), reading playboy or playgirl, learning curse words from their grownups or friends or watching tv even at age 5 while the parents are not around, either peer pressure or self-choice has teens become drunk or drugged up by 14 (drew barrymore had to go rehab at that age) and learning how to body slam from wrestling, or much worse shoot 'em up from ganster movies (hello tony montana).

INNOCENCE IS DEAD WHEN YOU TURN 5! The times of thinking the world is a fucking perfect place is over. Get off watching Sesame Street and get out more. Eveybody learns a lesson. Even the parents are goddamn worst, they are brain washed into thinking the world is doomed and God is on their side, and trust me God must be so pissed to be dragged into this shit. Not to mention the 'personalities': O' reilly and the sexual harrassment, Larry Craig and the bathroom 'incident' and Michael Savage talking shit about retards.

So basically the far right gets away with many things if not all the things or do they? As I close this rant, do know one thing, if you do not want your child or children to be exposed to such indecency at an early age fine, don't make it as a represenation to curb indecency as a way to showoff at the FCC. they did not ask you to do the job for them, they could only govern such broadcasters. and because not everybody supports this, JUST LEAVE US OUT OF THIS!

Wow, granted that your statement is very blunt. I feel the same way you do. The parents need to be looking after the kids not what they are watching. If they don't like it, they can deal with it themselves. But don't bring the whole country to deal with their own parenting problems.

Heck cartoons were more violent back in the day with Tom and Jerry as well as Looney Toons where anvils were dropped and cartoon characters were blown up with dynamite yet no one complained about that and everyone turned out ok. I think violence in TV and movies should be a bigger deal than someone who says a bad word.

The PTC has their priorities screwed up and are disgraces as parents. They don't give a damn about their kids. They just want to impose their idealogical beliefs on the whole population without taking any responsibility of the kids themselves.

It must suck to be the kids of those parents.

Ain't THAT the horrible truth. You know who fault it is in the first place? I got three groups that we all hate the most, and here are the following:

1. The no-gooded, blood-sucking FCC

2. The PTC (they think they have the right to choose which shows are good or bad for kids and teens?!! I DON'T THINK SO !!!!!!!)

3. Last, but not least, THE PARENTS themselves

They raised their children from all things bad on TV and radio, but literally, the truth is, they can't raise themselves. They got exposed into the bad things we all do these days. If whatsoever they can't find a good program on TV, turn it off and play games or whatever. With all the news invloving crackdown on indecency on TV & Radio, I think it's about that time for the FCC and PTC to BACK OFF!!!!! Seriously, Enough Is Enough. This is America, the land of the free speech, and the freedom to air which programs are good for us, people. If little kids like cartoons, they go ahead and watch. If people like cursing and violence in movies, they go ahead and watch. If people like watch. TV or movies with little or lot of skin, they go ahead and watch. Who's gonna stop those kids from hearing a bad word or seeing nudity? Not me, not us, no one. If kids are curious about what the parents do, they have the right to ask.

The so-called "religious Right" is trying to brainwash those poor little kids about what should they see and what should they not see on TV. This is truly un-called for. I am so glad that the FCC and PTC lost that battle. They think that the networks "fought the law and the law won," but this time, the networks won. CBS included. The FCC and PTC don't own us, WE OWN THE FCC!!!!!!
