Question regarding KCBS

I have a question regarding KCBS on Saturday mornings? Who anchors the local news updates during The Saturday Early Show? Do Paul or Laura anchor with Johnny Mountain doing the weather or does somebody else come in and do the updates? I have often wondered this for a while now.

No one...there are no KCBS or KCAL news updates or newscasts on weekend mornings.. so much for one of LA's most powerful news operations.

I actually asked that a while back no response. I'm surprised actually because all the rest of the CBS O&O's have them. Not even weather updates which they could tape.

The other two operations have Weekend Morning News. KNBC, while they don't do morning cut-ins has a morning newscast, though KABC takes a more extensive approach airing LA's only 5-7am, and 9-1030am newscasts...plus a Saturday newscast at noon if there's no sports.

I would think that a CBS O&O in the 2nd largest TV market would atleast have a taped weather report for The Saturday Early Show. CBS O&O's in cities like Pittsburgh and Baltimore have Saturday morning newscasts, so I am shocked that KCBS doesn't even have a taped update from the night before. They should start a weekend morning newscast or atleast a Saturday morning newscast. If they don't want to do that, they should just have Paul or Laura read a few news headlines and have Johnny Mountain tape a weather report. I wouldn't think that would be too much to ask!

I guess they figure the audience to demand live updates isn't there and playing something taped from the day before just makes the station look stale in comparison to competitors with live newscasts. The Early Show in all of its forms has never been a ratings winner in LA.

Another question, is it true the rumors that Don Corsini might jump to Tribune?

Well, he did resign today from KCBS/KCAL. So it might be true. KTLA staffers watch out, your station will be run further into the ground. Just look at how well CBS 2 and KCAL 9 are doing.

Nothing could be worse than Vinnie Malcolm, but Don Corsini......hmm.

For the record, KABC airs a Saturday 5-7 AM newscast and possibly Noon if no sports, as stated. Sunday, though, it's 5-6 AM, 7-8AM and 9-11 AM. 9-11 AM newscast is shorter or doesn't air some weeks due to sports programming.
Wow, I can't believe it... Maybe he was offered more bucks to run KTLA, but who will CBS put in charge, maybe Patrick or bring Peter Dunn to KCBS :). And will Nancy Bauer Gonzales jump to KTLA? Lots of questions.

Yes. KABC runs GMA at 7 on Saturday and at 6 on Sunday. I never really understood why (except for perhaps a local desire to be the lead-in for This Week or a dislike of running two ABC News programs on top of each other), so maybe someone can clue us in there.
