mre29 1588 Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Not true about Hearst because Hearst owns WESH in Orlando which connecting Brevard and Indian River counties would indicate Hearst owns two stations in neighboring markets and lets not forget CBS used to own WTVX in WPB and WFOR in Miami Ah, okay. Seeing as how I don't live in Florida, I wasn't sure just how far apart the markets were. But I should probably know better considering that I live in the Manchester, NH, area (WMUR), which is part of the Boston market (WCVB), which is neighbors with the Portland market (WMTW). :o
kjohnson 17 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Belo is too busy slashing budgets at their stations (Investigative Units: POOF!) to buy WTVJ. LocalTV might be interested, though...

qunewsguy 380 Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 FTVLive.com was apparently reporting Friday that WVIT has been pulled from the selling block for the time being.

RetroCirq 148 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Freedom Communications???? I mean here in Lansing/Jackson they are barebones with their news, and I mean VERY bare bones, but innovative nonetheless Freedom getting WTVJ....I dont know about that Freedom already owns WPEC in West Palm Beach in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale Area where I live, we get a B grade signal here.
first on fox 18 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has cleared the sale of NBC Universal's WTVJ Miami to Post-Newsweek, which already owns ABC affiliate WPLG-TV there. http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6602147.html
TSSZNews 1053 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Well, I guess that takes care of that. -T
ib-td 1 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 It will be interesting to see what, if anything will happen to the buildings. PLG is building new in Hollywood/Hallendale area and TVJ has new hd diggs in Miramar. Could PN combine forces, sell the TVJ or at least rent it to SVN (in serious need of updating, upgrading and enlarging). There are many other possibilities as well.
lugnuts6 91 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Has Telemundo51 gone back to Hialeah yet?? if not ..well then, they got themselves a good building all to themselves
ib-td 1 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Has Telemundo51 gone back to Hialeah yet?? if not ..well then, they got themselves a good building all to themselves ha! too many would like to tell them where to go
WAVY 10 Fan 233 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Time to change the thread title, I guess (if that can be done, that is)
Amra 172 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Has Telemundo51 gone back to Hialeah yet?? if not ..well then, they got themselves a good building all to themselves It's all rumours, Telemundo 51 can always struck a deal with the new owners of Peacock Plaza. But the price for TVJ is lower than anticipated. PLG and TVJ are moving together to their new digs. There isn't any talks about Peacock Plaza being sold that I know of.
