It's kind of like what is already going on in Philadelphia. http://www.suntimes.com/business/lazare/1279128,CST-FIN-lew14.article Both station groups are going to be sharing content with each other within each station's markets. So FOX O&Os will be sharing with NBC O&Os and vice versa. eyewitness_news 5
That's also what was going on in Miami. Both Philadelphia and Miami have or used to have O&Os that share the same news resources within both their markets, i.e. WCAU 10 and WPHL 17 & WTVJ 6 and WSFL 39 respectively. eyewitness_news 5
I wouldn't be surprised if the Fox O&Os and NBC O&Os were to follow suit in New York, LA, Dallas, or Washington, D.C. respectively. rtmclaug 67
This should be interesting to see how it plays out. If it works out well enough, do you think that they could combine operations? Just a thought. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4690-wfld-wmaq-to-share-resources/#findComment-43913 Share on other sites
Jase 1047
It's highly unlikely that they would combine operations given that they are not owned by the same company. That aside, they would have to deal with a series of complex rules that it may not be worth going through in the end and not save either party a great deal of money. Phil R. from the Chicago Tribune offered a better explanation of this partnership and one key point is that both stations will share "video" and nothing more (at least in the beginning).
