Thanks for the caps' date=' Geoffrey. I'm sure they'll show up on NewscastStudio soon...[/quote']

Anything for you, Dave.

It looks similar to the new NBC News/MSNBC set to me.

I didn't like the weather being done inside the 103" Panasonic plasma, either. They only went full screen for the current conditions (on top of a live shot) and the five-day forecast (which turned into the seven-day).

Jeff Rossen showed viewers around and he walked out the door of the "Content Center" into the newsroom. He said there's going to be a camera right by the assignment desk so that they can report breaking news even quicker. (Doesn't/Didn't MSNBC try something like that with the control room?)

Overall, I like the look... the old lower-thirds weren't working with the "4 New York" bug. I'm just curious to see if they ditched their old studio completely for this small space.

I like it...it could be better, but it's certainly an improvement. The previous graphics looked nice, but were very boring and dark. I'll have the video of the 6pm open soon.

The set is... bleh. There are parts of it I like, but I miss the big openness of the old set. This seems like it was put into a wide open space on a floor with a low ceiling. The mounted cameras in the newsroom are pretty cool and I think they'd make for some interesting rejoin or closing shots if they do those.

The one thing I loved about WNBC newscasts - no matter the set - was that they were able to use an absolutely monstrous studio. The previous set - and more significantly, the classic News 4 New York control room - could not have been done anywhere but in 30 Rock. That's something that's sorely missing from the low-ceiling content center. While I love newsroom sets more than any other design, something has clearly been lost.

The graphics are quite nice. I, too, like the idea of a more colorful WNBC. I do agree that it doesn't seem nearly as "New York" as it used to...

As sue simmons would say....WTF is that music...no chimes?? or is that just part of of the new theme?

It's just part of the theme. I think the chimes are in the open.

I don't like how they're going the FOX 5 route by flashing their logo before every piece of video. We could do without that.

Do they have fewer reporters on the streets now? I think I've only seen one live report from outside the studio (other than CNBC and reporters at the desk) so far. And the mic flag is still the old one.

The sidebar graphics for 4:3 video also haven't been updated yet.

And in case anyone is wondering, they're in the newsroom at 6:00, too. I guess the old set is gone. My guess is that Chuck will anchor the 7:00 newscast from in front of the big plasma.

I don't like the set at all. It looks small market and it looks extremely cheap.

And that massive plasma is nice until it breaks and they can't do the weather. Hopefully there's a drop down chroma wall somewhere. Also, something in that area is making it look bad, I think either the wood is too light or there's too much light.

The graphics look like they were designed for a Fantasy Television game.

Overall, I give it:

3 "Gah"s

1 "What?"

and 1 "Oh Brother!"

The open music is really bleh. I like the music used during the teaser though.

I don't see how the set looks small-market... to me it looks like a mediocre interpretation of the NN set. I don't know of any small-market sets that have a bunch of glass and a 103" flat panel. When I think small-market I think either new and plain (like WJAC) or a set from 1997 that has been updated a couple times since it debuted.

The open... the whole graphics pack is quite nice, but a bit too simple for my tastes. I really am liking the new set, though it gives me an impression of NBC Nightly News. The music, I saw this coming, something by Gari, as most the O&Os are using now.. It's good, the open could use a bit more "oomph" it's like the music is barely there...
