NewsJunkie247 1
At around 3:26 PM, a US Airways plane from LaGuardia in NY to Charlotte crashed in the Hudson River. It is reported that all people on board are alive. All NYC stations have live continuous coverage and most of the stations are showing their coverage on-line as well. I am watching WABC-TV's coverage with Diana Williams and Sade Baderinwa. Newscopter 7 was providing video from the sky, but it can't fly right now because of weather issues. Jeff Pegues was live downtown with video of rescued people coming on land and they are also interviewing eyewitnesses and experts. Also, Lauren Glassberg gave an update from the newsroom. UPDATE: Here is some of the coverage from the 5pm news: Jeff Pegues and Tim Fleischer did live reports from the West Side. Jen Maxfield was live at one of the area hospitals where several people were taken, and Stacey Sager was live at LaGuardia Airport. Dr. Jay Adlersberg was on the set with Diana and Sade with info about the health of the people that survived the crash, and Jim Hoffer had additional details about the crash and about "birdstrikes". Vlad 325
Yeah the stations did a good job. I watched and recorded WABC's footage in the beginning Diana nearly shed tears because when I tuned in it literally seemed as if everyone was trapped in the water with people inside the plane freezing to death. And that was what the initial reports had stated. But thankfuly they obviously all had gotten out of the plane when the news had broke in. No stations had shown the period of time when the passengers were actually standing on the wing of the plane which is why many people thought that there were people still trapped inside. Bucc 4
I am very surprised that FOX-23 WXXA, Albany, NY sent one of their reporters (Kathryn Hauser) down to the city, she is now doing a live reporter. Very interesting. I am sure there will be a promo about their team coverage shorty. knightofni 2
As far as actual showside coverage, I'm keeping an eye on PIX and they completely blew it. Their cold open froze, and suddenly while they had a single shot on Jim Watkins, the studio lights went down and back up. Any other showside reports? DMA 135
Well, technical difficulties are rampant during breaking news like this. I thought WPIX, WCBS, and WNBC had the best coverage.
