PelicanGuy 117 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 It took several weeks, but WWL's set transition is pretty much complete. The main set looks very much like its newscasts' opening credits before the teases start AND its new graphics. Looks nice. Now they just need to replace the set used by Rob Nelson when he gives the news on the morning show. A few videos for yall: Main set and stand-up area: http://www.wwltv.com/video/news-index.html?nvid=331629&shu=1 More views of the main set: http://www.wwltv.com/video/news-index.html?nvid=331634&shu=1
Oliverolang 41 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 The set would look a lot better if they got rid of those ugly wood newsdesks.
WXmanTim 88 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Is WWL still planning to build a new studio on the plot of land they bought in the CBD before Katrina?
newsguy22 59 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 OMG those anchors are appear ancient. Dennis and Angela are late 50s, I believe. She's been there since the mid 1970s. Newscast has been number one for 30-ish years. If it aint broke...
PelicanGuy 117 Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Is WWL still planning to build a new studio on the plot of land they bought in the CBD before Katrina? No (I said this in an earlier post). Belo doesn't have the money right now.
PelicanGuy 117 Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Dennis and Angela are late 50s, I believe. She's been there since the mid 1970s. Newscast has been number one for 30-ish years. If it aint broke... Angela is 58...Dennis is up there too...he has had two stints there: late 70s-early 80s and since the mid 90s, I believe.
alaskanews 122 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 OMG those anchors are appear ancient. And this matters why? I would rather watch the old-timers than the dumb blonde (for journalistic reasons)
newsguy22 59 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 And this matters why? I would rather watch the old-timers than the dumb blonde (for journalistic reasons) Agreed. Of course, I may be biased. I grew up watching them. The whole trust factor is a big thing, especially in New Orleans. (Ask Mike Ross at KTUU, if you ever see him, he worked with us at WWL for years).

Vlad 330 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Graphics look like they were done by Giant Octopus as well, very nice set though overall.
