RGSJenkins 432
Both WNET and WLIW both got new logos Monday. They're both owned by the same company that's why WLIW has the "i." I didn't get to see the on air promos. The old: The new:
qunewsguy 376
Not a huge fan of WNET's logo at all. The old one had character... the new one... yuck. WLIW's is an improvement though.
Jess 1110
Last time I was in NYC around the New Year, that newish WNET logo was on Subway ads (although I don't remember the dotted I), so they've been working towards it. I actually like the new logo - it seems more distinctive than the lower-case "thirteen".
DMA 135
I've always liked the previous logo, but I do think it was time for a change. The current one could be better, but I like that the "i" is the same, it's a neat touch. I don't think the logo isn't used on air yet.
eyewitness_news 5
I've been to NYC before and I couldn't be more flabbergasted that WNET and WLIW would pull a WGBH. Yes, WGBH 2 and WGBX 44 in Boston in the used shadowy numbers in their graphics in the '90s respectively.
DMA 135
I mean, it's not like they're classic logos...there has always been a disconnect between WLIW and WNET since the merger, and this is good. I just saw a new thirteen ident, it was pretty stunning.
Jess 1110
This is the umbrella WNET logo, which is the one I saw on the subway. The logos really make far more sense once you see this one:
RGSJenkins 432
Here's the creator of WNET & WLIW's new id music, composed by Juilliard School student Niccolo Athens.
DMA 135
Yeah, it's the music that made the timelapse shot of the East River great...awesome find!
kjohnson 15
The IDs are great. The logos look fine in the IDs for WNET/WLIW.

RGSJenkins 432
Here's the creator of WNET & WLIW's new id music, composed by Juilliard School student Niccolo Athens. Ironically, WNET & WLIW are building a new television studio in the Juiliard School which nearly across the street from WABC's studio in Lincoln Square. DMA 135
Ooh, it'll be streetside, and Worldfocus is moving there: http://www.thirteen.org/pressroom/pdf/company/PR_WNET-LC-Studio.pdf http://www.thirteen.org/pressroom/images/company/13_lincolncenter.jpg Pentagram did the new look: http://pentagram.com/en/new/2009/05/new-work-wnetorg-1.php#more Could somebody move this thread to the NYC board? Hometown News 11
Ugh... more evidence that Pentagram is losing its creativity. Anybody can type "THIRTEEN" in Gotham and make an oversized dot with the circle tool in Photoshop. Timeless logos make people scratch their heads and wonder how they did that, which this new look is lacking.
Mrtraveler01 737
I like the modern approach to it, but since when were WNET and WLIW jointly owned?
