WABC audio background noise.

I'm noticing when Diana's mic is on there is a noticeable background nose, I can't tell if it's a grounding hum or studio noise, but when they switch to Sade and Diana's mic is turned off the background noise is gone.

I wonder why when they are sitting in the same area that one mic would have more noise in the background then the other?

I have not noticed this on the other local channels.

She may read softer then the other anchor, causing them to have to boost her level, and increasing the background noise in the process.

Plus lapel mics are soooo sensitive. Personally I've been able to pick up conversations across a large open with them. No one would hear it without headphones on, but it's still getting picked up.

Listen to a newscast with headphones on and listen closely, and you might even be able to hear the robotic pedestals move around.

Since it's easier to listen then describe what I'm talking about here are two short clips from WABC-DT.

Clip a is from 5pm and clip b from 6pm.

If you listen closely a has more background noise then b.

I know what you're talking about. That noise is a like a grounding noise. Like perhaps interference from a ground wire or something like that, resulting in that noticeable electrical hum. I get that a lot when I have faulty wiring on my Stereo and or computer. And the funny thing is that it doesn't happen all the time during their newscasts..
