nynewslover 280 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 For those of you who care the reason Joe Nolan was out the past few days was because he was getting surgery...didnt hear it announced on WABC but they announced it on PLJ last week. He was back this morning.

It takes a lot of guts to go through an operation like that because it changes the person's life permanently. I read about the aftermaths of Gastric Bypasses they can be awfully troubling and extremely difficult for one to deal with and through. Good luck to him.
TellyGenic 33 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Belly band and gastric bypass are two very different things. A lap band (or belly band) is not a permanent operation - it can be easily adjusted and removed. A bypass is permanent and much more drastic a procedure. There's also a greater, more sudden weight loss with a bypass, and less of a possibility for relapse (or weight gain), whereas with lap band, once the band is removed, regaining of weight is more likely. Ira Joe Fisher had a lap band - Al Roker had the bypass. Good luck Joe!
