No Wonder FOX Hides Good Day Ratings:Take a Look

Something is not working there in Chicago, that's for sure. I think it's time for a management change. KDFW kills in ratings down here, even beating out the national morning shows.

Looks like it's time to at least drop the 4:30 news. Colorbars might pull in higher numbers...

Might as well cut the 9 AM hr. too. They're better off if they went back to the GDC format (circa '92) with a different solo anchor every half hr. (5-7 AM) and then a 2-anchor format (7-9 AM). Since no one there is really capable of programming 5 1/2 hrs. M-F, maybe cutting things down to 4 hrs. would enable them to structure things better.

Sometimes watching GDC, their 4:30-5am portion is actually the best portion of the whole GDC show when they have the RIGHT talent heading it up. The Kori Chambers and Anita Padilla combo work so perfect together that early in the morning. That half hour is really fun to watch when it's those 2 on the couch. The chemistry is perfect and the talk is good. As soon as 5AM rolls around, it all seems to fade away to what management wants or whatever experiments they're trying out. I also don't think that's the time to drop if they want to somewhat remain "news competitive" in Chicago morning news.

Don't joke about the colorbars.. I've heard they're even having a hard time selling to paid programming infomercial advertising.

What needs to go is the last hour (9-10am) of the show. It's just dragging on what they've dragged on the past 3 hours or so and unnecessary. It's stale and it has that feeling of a guest that has overstayed their welcome into your home.

Like I've mentioned in a couple other threads, why the hell is management still there?? Any other station or company, management would have been escorted out with their bankers boxes by now.. Plus, the new exec producers hired on are just more of the same old same old buddy buddy that hasn't worked in this market in years.. and the fact they are still being allowed to hire on more of what won't work. It's all unbelievable.

How about this idea.. Replace ALL of GDC with that Newsic thing that some FOX stations had years ago? You'll still get your weather, traffic and news on the screen along with some awesome new/recent music videos to watch before work or school.

WFLD probably could have been added into his perspective the other night.. http://video.chicago.cbslocal.com/global/video/flash/popupplayer.asp?vt1=v&clipFormat=flv&clipId1=5705517&rnd=54921182 haha..

That's pretty sad that they can't pull in a full ratings point. I mean you can get at least a pity point from some random dog stepping on the remote and changing the channel by accident.

No kidding! From time to time, I'll watch a few minutes because I feel sorry for them.

I'm serious about that, honest to God!

what

happened

to

the

windows.

In the newsroom? Those are just custom made graphic roller shades pulled all the way down. During the day, the sunlight can still shine through them and they can also be rolled up for full window view.

That must be the 3rd set of window covers they've went through in the newsroom in about a year's time. The newsroom originally had aluminum mini-blinds. Then about a year or so ago, a few of the windows were covered with large blue plastic/plexi graphic panels (with the same graphics you see on their current roller shades) but they were actual panels that blocked the windows. It didn't work out too well because they couldn't just move them or whatever when they wanted to. They were replaced with the first set of custom roller shades with a CBS 2 logo on each one but they were gray in color and didn't look very nice.

More recently, they got the new blue roller shades which work out very nice for them. It especially makes the newsroom look better at night and they can keep them down during the day and they'll still let light through.

Nothing new.. WLS and WGN still top the morning game. WBBM's number are triple of what they were last year during Monsters & Money. I don't have any exact numbers but WBBM's morning show is showing much more growth than expected.. NY made an excellent decision by sending us Steve Bartelstein and Megan Glaros for the mornings as they have really caught on with viewers. WMAQ is bleh but they seem to be taking a "we don't care, we're fine" approach so apparently, they're happy at number 3.

That's exactly what I thought they were. Glad they replaced them with shades. Maybe if they're looking to order more soon, they could put a picture of the city skyline on them? It would add some variation to them, they're kinda boring and blue right now... They remind me of their old newsroom.
