Someone hit a gold mine in Spokane! All from the early 1990s:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c32ktcrXh0 (1991 KHQ newsbreak: Image V...perhaps 1988 in fact?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ4cf3aDZrQ (1993 KHQ, already in the worst opens thread)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLUfCAZz2a4 (late 1987 KREM, a new open)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZtZ9zc9gTs (1991 KAYU KREM-produced)

I found this last month while perusing a large batch of opens from the English for the Children movement, including 2001 WGGB opens. WGGB 1993 coverage of a fire in Holyoke, Massachusetts; buried inside are three news opens from a previously unknown package. Chris Clausen voices.

(2:18 - First at 5 open)

(3:40 - 6pm open)

(starts with the 11 @ 11 open)

I sent this off to the NMSA but got no response.

Some of you older heads may remember the now-defunct Dolphin Productions Inc. of New York. They produced a lot of graphics for commercials and TV stations and were among the first to use computer graphics. Some of their work from the 70s are below. Catchy music too.

Part 53 of the longest TV news open collection in history (I think?). Among the highlights: a bad WABG open, KWCH from the mid-1990s, an Alabama boatload (all new, as well), a WALA open from NBC Nightside overnight news, and the countdown clock that changed WBMG to WIAT in 1998.

Well, I've got some videos back up that had been among the most popular on my last channel.

1995 NFL on NBC Pregame Show (Part 1:

Part 2:
); 1995 NFL on NBC Intro (Jets vs. Dolphins;
); halftime show (
); Game 2 of World Series promo (
); mid-doubleheader/bridge show and opening comments of Broncos/Chiefs game (
); and late halftime show with WAVY newsbreak (
).

But wait, there's more. Also included is an almost-complete April 6, 1989 WTKR "Live at Five" newscast:

Part 1:

Part 2 (cuts off just after that last commercial; tape runs out not long after):

STW9, Perth, Australia; three different vintage news opens, two of them featuring Cool Hand Luke (BTW, "National Nine News" is actually a locally originated newscast):

Too bad jacky9br's not based in New Orleans or the Mississippi Coast; we would've gotten gems from WYES, WLOX, or even Mississippi ETV (which are all sorely needed on YouTube)!

These finally got on the NMSA as the "WGGB 1993 News Theme." From what I can tell, it's exactly the same as the "WGGB 1994 News Theme" that was already on there, it's just that the opens in each entry are from different times. Not sure why there are two entries for the same theme?

The only thing he would have to put up for MPB-Television (it hasn't been Mississippi ETV since the early 80s, if not before) is their :15-sec station IDs which consists of different shots from around Mississippi (a county courthouse in one, some wildlife in another, the Biloxi beachfront, etc), the MPB logo (which is an M with what looks like a tire treadmark through it) and their station/repeater COLs scrolling across.

Sometimes they get fancy and read their positioning statement "Educating, Entertaining and Enlightening: MPB."

That's it.

Mississippi ETV became MPB in 2005 and for countless years until he retired, Jack Schweitzer used to do the IDs/promos.

But of course, MPB is also known for bringing Clyde Frog, Tomes & Talismans, and Ticktock Minutes into America's homes and classrooms.
