As someone who used to work in a few different medical facilities, I enjoyed the free lunches!

I hate to bring up a 2018 post but since then, she started a company with her husband. But now, instead of saying goodbye to a TV news career and a hello to a new business, she'll possibly instead say hello to a prison cell. Found guilty on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud but found not guilty on four counts of wire fraud. In Arizona, that one count could mean 20 years in federal prison for Hockridge and three years of supervised release. She finds out at sentencing on October 10th. Her fiancé will stand trial in August for the same charges. https://www.abc15.com/news/local-news/investigations/blueacorn-ex-news-anchor-found-guilty-of-conspiracy-not-guilty-on-other-charges?fbclid=PAQ0xDSwLDIbBleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABp-cPVF_Sr9e2BRP3CPQL66Uzs7jl2RNKRg9qJGljSEEJOAiuWRKVDC706nWZ_aem_YtX2zJFdO9zFPWIrah9K7Q

The newer packages from Nexstar within the past 2-3 years are presentation-wise more modern looking than the repetitive CBS/ABC/NBC looks the stations have had for years now. The KOIN package (MOD-1) is OK, not the best IMO but I do like the customization for WFNA and KRCW. I do agree though, some MG packages are definitely better than the old packages Nexstar has.

Define "good".
-
I'd say the package WKRN debuted last year and the PIX package are both still good from Nexstar.
-
Nexstar is long overdue for some new packages. While all of their stations up to Media General (sans WAVY) have switched to their packages, there's still a few former Tribune stations with their packages floating around. The only recent package that's halfway decent is the one WXIN has. The others are getting stale. When WFNA launched their 9pm news in 2016, they used the "Triangle" Media General package that was introduced on WNCN for their relaunch pre-CBS. It lasted until WKRG picked up the current CBS package in 2018 and unified all newscasts under the WKRG brand. I wish they would do some more in Youngstown with WYFX's newscasts. They've been unified under the WKBN branding since their Nexstar launch as well.

I don’t know. I turned it on at 5 and thought it was the wrong station due to ads.

The Chevron strike-down has hit the FCC's decisions; by a 6-3 party-line vote today, the Supreme Court ruled that lower courts can now decide cases without FCC input (link from my employer with their view; here's another view from Broadband Breakfast). This was about the FCC declaring that online junk faxes didn't need to comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (the case they ruled on now goes back to the 9th Circuit), and though I'm not law-versed by any means (and I would appreciate more clarity), this seems like a major shift for the FCC's rulemaking process well beyond telecoms where their word is now not exactly set in stone.

I imagine Cowles has de facto right of first refusal when Marks's heirs finally decide to sell KYUS....as does Scripps with KXGN.
-
Yeah they were using tight shots in front of a smaller video wall. The news and weather reports shared the video wall. Some tech issue in the main studio I guess.

I think that part of the issue here is that the graphics package is meh. Even Media General's flat package looked better than this. The green doesn't work and the color is more sunset peach which works well as a highlight complimenting golds, blues and white, but not as a primary. Combined with the green, it's reminiscent of watermelon.

Were they ok at 4?

Is something going on with News 4 NY studio tonight? The 5 pm show started about 5 min late after several commercials. It was mostly Gilma delivering her script over video and the sound was off. When Gilma was finally on, it was a close in shot that looked more from the newsroom with the background than the actual set. Halfway through the Combs story report, the sound cleared up, including when it was thrown back to Gilma. We'll see if they are in the studio once they are back from more commercials but something definitely seemed off.

KXGN preparing for a sale....
tyrannical bastard replied to tyrannical bastard's topic in General TV
Here's an interesting tidbit from Wikipedia.... KYUS once had a formal agreement to relay KULR but it expired many years ago. Stephen Marks basically had a handshake agreement to continue relaying their signal solely as a public service with no expectation of payment. I wonder in this day and age how NBC feels about this? For Miles City, it's part of KULR's market area but is still 150 miles away, making it as a repeater with virtually no contour overlap. As long as his heirs keep the station running, there's no telling how much longer this could go. -
Not since Congress let the legislation authorizing such lapse in 2020. (The channels remain available to those who already had them at that time.)

For some weird reason, KNBC has the time on their 11:00 PM news on Saturday night, but not the rest of the week. I’ve never understood why.

Miles City is 75 miles away from Glendive, but still almost 150 miles from Billings. It's also twice the size of Glendive. It seems like KYUS should be rolled into the existing Glendive market and made the focal point of it. Whatever becomes of KYUS would then feed KXGN. It's currently a brokered feed of Cowles' KULR, and other broadcasters could broker the subchannels to feed this area. But given the remoteness of the area, it should have happened years ago and current conditions wouldn't warrant undergoing such a transformation. Regarding the satellite services, Glendive appears to be the ONLY DMA to have never started local feeds on DirecTV. Does DirecTV still offer the NY/LA stations for remote areas of the country like this? -

They can definitely do the concerts in that atrium space they filmed Live with Kelly and Mark the first week they moved to Hudson Square.

Which country? Even if I knew every country's flag by heart, that icon is tiny.

The full half-hour special devoted to Mr. England aired last night on KWTV. R.I.P. Gary.

They maintained that living room look in the early Times Square years (screenshots from 2001 and 2003) but yes that faded as time went on. Really liked that set.

To clarify things, Mid-Rivers Communications serves Glendive, but appears to have discontinued video service.

Just for fun, I checked to see how far Spokane is from Glendive. Using KXGN's building as the Glendive end, Spokane is about 595 miles away, or about the same distance as Duluth, Omaha, a point 15 miles north of Pueblo, CO, and over halfway up into Saskatchewan. You could draw a straight line from Glendive through downtown Minneapolis and not hit 595 miles till you're just over the river in Wisconsin. So, yeah, Spokane is just a bit too far from Glendive.
