The best explanation I can give is that having a long pad on a video playing out of a server in automation is playing with fire. Let's say, hypothetically, there are 4 video playback outputs from the video server here. three normal for vos, sots, pkgs, etc, one keyable for show opens, animations, and other fancy production elements where the video comes in/out over the elements surrounding it. Have the keyable open with 3 seconds of audio pad on it, the playback file will end, and the automation will cue up the next element assigned to play out of that channel automatically. Have the keyable open with 30 seconds of trailing/fading audio pad on it, and there's another element set to play from the keyable channel within the first 30 seconds after the show open, most likely the automation will automatically eject the open animation while the trailing audio is still playing and will cue up the next element set to come out of that keyable channel in time for it to be clean - but it just isn't worth the risk in a situation where the automation director would have to verify the right element is cued up, or manually advance the playback channel to the next element during a busy top of a newscast.

Who owns the building itself?

Disney leases the building. They are giving up the lease.

Whats with that awful abrupt end to the opening theme when the anchor are doing their introduction? Horrible. Ive noticed more and more newscasts have this. I imagine its a result of everything being automated. Terrible. Why is that allowed.

I may not live in Oklahoma, but man losing a weather legend like Gary England sucks. My condolences are with his family and everyone at KWTV.

Looks like they started today! Nice to see this type of synergy and to see both stations WNBC/WNJU operate from one building. Kudos to them!

KSWB final broadcast at 7191 Engineer Rd is today. This afternoon is the reveal of the new set as they move 10 min east across Kearny Mesa to Viewridge Ave and merge with KUSI.

Even though WISH was one of the original stations under Nexstar before they traded up to WTTV/WXIN, the package still somewhat exists at WISH under Dujuan McCoy. Sad to think that this was one if the inspirations for GrayOne, especially with the supers.

Since San Antonio is already set up for WXLV's newscasts, and if KTXS has transitioned to the anchorless model, it's basically some cut-ins that can be recorded and sent to wherever the newscast is being produced from. Does KTXS have their own master control or is it hubbed? The ACU setup is likely for their newsgathering crews to work out of while their building is either repaired or relocated to a new permanent facility. -
The move from fully physical sets to video walls allows for more variation of looks and could be more cost-effective in the long run. And they give a sense of realism as opposed to a truly virtual setup with chroma keying.

They used to be massive draws for viewership. Both GMA and Today drew pretty big artists for the release of their albums, part of their tours, etc. That said, the shows have changed so much that the concert series feels somewhat out of place these days. I recognize 2-3 artists from GMA’s announced line up. Today’s line up is a ton of has-beens.

Not going to lie, I'm surprised by how good the set looks. Despite the carpet flooring, I like the design and flair of it and it looks like some thought was put into it. All for a small market like Cadillac. Frankly I'm impressed.

I don't know if posted but here's the last newscast for CHCA-TV which includes behind the scenes on their VR/AR set that they were using prior to being the first Canadian TV station to shut down and give their license back to the CRTC in 2009. This gives you insight on what CBS' VR/AR sets are going to function like. VR/AR sets have been commonplace in Canadian TV for a long time, we're at the point where US TV is getting a taste of what has been going on in Canada for 26 years.

This is not a one time thing anymore, CBS is going to replace all sets with AR/VR at their owned and operated stations, including newcomer WUPA. Just a theory, I sure hope that physical sets still exist and stay around for a few more years. If CBS is successful in reducing operating losses to the point where it's making more of a profit for the shareholders, just imagine what other broadcast or entertainment companies will do with VR/AR. -

I was just checking out the graphics, and I'd say I wish they had not but the KUSI logo in a white box. If doesn't look great.

Update Abilene Christian University (ACU) has allowed KTXS to utilize its facilities to help set up a temporary newsroom on campus. https://ktxs.com/news/abilene/abilene-christian-university-opens-doors-to-ktxs-after-severe-storm-damages-station -
While I'm happy for the desk, oh man the rest looks low budget... I'm holding out hope that those cut outs are temporary just for this ad...

Wow they finally killed off One and Only that was the sound of KUSI! At least they didn’t go Aerial….
