  1. So, we were asking if anyone left WABC, with the Candice McCowan sighting. I mentioned a few weeks ago that Mallory Hoff is no longer with the station, but I noticed today, Carolina Leid's bio is gone from the website. Her contract must have expired at the end of the year, because the Twitter account has none post 2016.

  2. Just checked TV listings and NWCN will go sign-off and be off-the-air for good on Friday January 6th, 2017 at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET The last three hours will be Northwest News Today from 4:00-5:30pm, followed by the NWCN 20 special that was already aired earlier this year at 5:30pm and the hour-long Northwest News Evening Edition at 6:00pm will end the channel's 21-year history. If anybody has access to NWCN right now, please record the final few hours on its last day. It will be history to see because we won't see it again.

  3. Diana Williams was subbing for Bill Ritter on Up Close. Not sure when WABC officially announced Bill as the new host?

  4. Should also by a DTV Station like KQML-LD or KOIB-LD in KC area that have nothing on them and then maybe get KMCI from Scripps to be main channel.

  6. Saw a promo for the morning news done in the newsroom. Kind of strange, right?

  8. Give us a MILFy weekend anchor and Stormy, the Weather Schnauzer; and you got yourself a deal.

  9. Sorry for the double post. WTVR on Facebook: "No that is not true Roly. CBS Evening News at 6:30 is not going anywhere." I hope that answers your question.

  11. Channel 6 has historically been the farm team for Channel 10, and vice versa when someone gets booted from 10. They parked Chris Bradley over at WTHR so he could learn how to use the weather equipment while his non-compete was still around. I think they should do that with Yolanda. In fact, I don't know why stations don't do more of that. Mix-in your most talented and or attractive people with the other stations in your group. Perfect example was this year's World Series. Put WTHR in charge of the Chicago game coverage and WBNS in charge of the Cleveland games. It makes things more interesting for the viewer to see new people and lets you get more use out of your high-priced talent.

  12. From 1981, here is a WFMY 6pm news close with credit roll. Gotta love the control room shot during the close. The closing cut to "It's All Right Here" sounds nice..

  13. Wilson Stribling of WLBT on Facebook uploaded a WLBT newscast from 1984. The opening is very nice and features a full newscast. The WLBT 1990 News Theme is heard which leads me to believe that WLBT started using that theme in 1984 or earlier. Also, a WPIX news open from 1984 which still used the classic MCTYW theme. But wait, here is a KPRC newscast close from 1983 which also includes a station sign-off from that period. Also, here is something rare. Bakersfield news clips from 1982. Starting with a KERO news open. Then going over to KPWR-TV (now KGET) and "The News Center". Continuing with Bakersfield, here are three news stories about the South Chester drive-in that aired on KERO's "23 News", KBAK's "NewsForce 29" and KPWR-TV's "The News Center" back in 1982.
