  1. I wonder if it will be called for the record still

  2. It sounds like Glenn is just taking a step back so he can work less. If he suddenly retired (and it looked like he was pushed out) then they might run into problems.

  3. To be fair, she had a long run at CNN prior to Fox. She just went with the wrong network.

  4. They're doing it again. The 2nd year of Founder's Day of Caring with an even expanded footprint from the last one. My gripe is this. Shouldn't stations be doing this kind of stuff on a regular basis, instead of just doing it on the day of the company's founding? I feel they're doing this on a corporate mandate, instead of doing it just for the sake of helping their communities.

  5. Since the news anchor/reporter position @ WMAQ is no longer listed, does this mean the new guy will take Dick's spot weekend nights (anchoring with Michelle) and Dick is (by default, unofficially) the new 4P weekday anchor? Does this also mean they plan to leave Christian and Susan paired together on the weekend AM shift? I can't for the life of me understand why they have such a tough time making decisions.

  6. Some even thought she was a poor fit at Fox. I'm reading a book about a guy who worked for them and Greta was brought up, and they said that for a number of reasons she seemed like the odd one out there after going to FNC from CNN (her more conservative appearance compared to the supermodel female anchors that they're famous for, she often ran in Democratic circles before, Scientologist, etc.). By the time she left Fox, she even said it didn't feel like a home to her. Only if he has poor ratings. Tucker Carlson had a show on MSNBC for a few years that was cancelled due to low ratings. The MSNBC audiences and people who most often watch them generally prefer commentators to not be as right-leaning. Just like if they got a far-left leaning person to host a political opinion show on Fox News (on their own, without 4 other people shouting over them). The general audiences who watch the network would probably not be happy with that show and wouldn't watch it.

  7. It's been ages since I've turned on KGTV, and I see *this* tonight on the anchor desk in the studio. And who the hell are all of these new robotic "fresh out of college" reporters? It's like every single Fresno and Bakersfield reporter has been teleported to 10... In other news I was Downtown earlier and saw poor Steve Fiorina knocked out and sleeping in the front of their live truck near the Federal Building around 2:30 PM. Get him out of his misery already! 8. Ever since Tom got out of rehab ,,,both Tom and Jerry have been working hard on their relationship. Both understand there is no room for violence anymore. We all just hope they don't pull an "itchy and scratchy" and end up drunks on some stupid kids show.

  11. It's going to take a while to get used to a Nexstar that's finally been convinced 'call letters in a web address without some hokey 34-letter branding aren't terrible'.

  12. I agree with you there, however Wallace plays directly to what I think is the majority of the MSNBC audience. She is very outspoken and more critical of Trump than Greta was. Deadline's approach is also refreshing with the round table discussions and involvement of many correspondents covering Washington. Nicole's roll out was very smooth like you noted, which I can't say the same about for Megyn Kelly.

  14. Well at this point we'll just have to hope Sinclair ends up similar to the big banks during the Great Recession and becomes "too big to fail" and fails.

  15. While I get your point, they are not really hurting for money at WMAQ. The amount of net loses (4 anchor/reporters, 1 weather anchor, 2 sports anchors, 1 investigative reporter) in recent years has outweigh the net gains (adding additional reporters mainly). Point is, it shouldn't take months/years to fill spots. Either promote from within (which they have done to a very, very, very small degree) or hire from the outside. I feel for Dick Johnson, who has been in this market for 30+ yrs (11 at WMAQ) and a consummate professional throughout, but they can't seem to be bothered to give him the 4/4:30P job much less a week off since like January. Just make a decision!!

  16. The Tom and Jerry analogy is funnier if you replace the cat and mouse with Skilling and Taft.
