  1. She never got good ratings for two reasons: 1) Her time slot was also awkward -- She followed Chuck Todd and the last NBC News branded "straight news" program, and preceded Chris Matthews and all that is him. Her ability to be the merging point for those two just never materialized. 2) You also have to remember, some of the big breaking stories that have happened over the past six months either happened or was dropped by the print media between 4-6pm... and she just doesn't have the chops for breaking news. If you need an example, just remember Comey's firing day -- she had Dershowitz and some other person on, and they just weren't inspiring. I remember watching for maybe 10 minutes before dumping (reluctantly) to CNN. I don't think this could be said enough. Outside of her weakness as a broadcaster, she has never had a good production value or (outside of the politicians) no good guests on any of her shows. Evem at FOX News, where your really don't need a good production team since the viewers are pretty damn loyal, her show seemed lackluster at best. Even in the deep forest that is weekend primetime, I think she would have suffered. She's a lawyer by trade, and she'd probably have been better off as either a legal contributor to Rachel (since they're friends and all) or even as a Legal Analyst alongside Ari Melber, the networks chief legal correspondent (who ironically is taking her slot). It's neither all her fault nor all MSNBC. They both fucked up.

  2. Looks like David Rhodes is Regretting removing Scott Pelley from the Evening News chair. More of a clear sign it could be Anderson Cooper taking over. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/ne...nsition-didnt-go-smoothly-hurt-morale-1017868

  3. Most FOX viewers are in nursing homes where they can't change the channel by themselves. In some cases when you let the old men have the remote...they watch inappropriate shows...like the Man Show and those jiggly game shows on Estrella TV.

  4. They will allow Steve and Kim to go gracefully...Kimba the latter. Both will get the "Bill Griffith treatment" and continue to shill for alarm companies and fat doctors in those superspots at the end of the 11am show. Kim may even land one of those sponsored Italian cruises where viewers come aboard and bother and stalk you for 2 weeks. ...... I'm gonna blow a gasket over the reporters at KGTV just like i sense you are. Those reporters are what she is stuck with...and it's a looooong story on how they get (or not get) to SD.

  5. My gripe is this. Shouldn't stations be doing this kind of stuff on a regular basis, instead of just doing it on the day of the company's founding? I feel they're doing this on a corporate mandate, instead of doing it just for the sake of helping their communities. The Corp bullshit answer is: "We (Hackstar) help the community EVERYDAY of the year Mr.Circleseven...so we take great offense to your accusations of our laziness"..... Once a year is "a regular basis"...according to Crapstar. This event of goodwill cost the corperation NOTHING to put on. I bet even the free t-shirts were donated. Employee time...donated...food...donated...air time...donated...water...tap...phone...tap...tap-tap-tap---sos. The employees are the ones who really deserve the thanks. They are the pawns in the whole thing, ,,,but they volunteer and feel good doing so. (win-win). The company does the absolute minimum to satisfy "Community Service" whatever the hell the FCC defines that as.

  6. So how long before the Shlongs and Linds wind up as the 11pm team? I give it before the Nov. Book. Then they'll push Kim and Steve down to the earlier shows before they get shown the door. I wonder what excuse they'll use then? When Robert was canned, they used the old BS line that he "wanted to take up other interests he was passionate about", "do some other things that he's always wanted to do", etc. The way he worded it on air was so forced, you could tell even he clearly did not want to go along with it. It was cringe-worthy, I shit you not. This lady clearly has a preference in hiring young/inexperienced news peeps. I guess it must make her feel comfortable being around the young crowd--maybe she relishes the mother hen role and it also helps that Scripps is basically OKing these hires since it's saving them money. One thing is for certain, if the station was doing so well, then there'd be no need to give out these $1000 gift cards during sweeps....

  8. Thanks for sharing. That's certainly an interesting article, though I don't see anything in it that shows a "clear sign" that Anderson Cooper would take it over. All it shows is that CBS (specifically David Rhodes) is admitting they fumbled this whole thing without any clear plan for who would succeed Scott. With that said, I would be shocked if CBS went with an outside hire. If getting rid of Scott already hurt morale, then it would be even more demoralizing if everyone from the inside were passed up for an outsider. That did not go as planned for them last time, and all it would do is confuse viewers. Sure, Anderson may not completely be an outsider given his 60 Minutes role, but if you asked most people who watch television, they would probably most identify him as being the face of CNN. I doubt many people are very aware of his 60 Minutes role, including those who watch CBS Monday through Friday. CBS has a deep bench, but no obvious starter.
