  1. I will check out their 5:00 evening newscast and the 9:00 evening newscast as well. I might tune in to see the morning news tomorrow on Fox 32, just in case if they start using Beyond on the other newscasts.

  2. Here is a shot of that fake bulkhead....everything above the anchors is on a wood frame, directly in front of a studio camera. Thanks to the Jack White collection circa 1979. Very clever Gil.

  3. Yet more content from tapes bought at Jack White's estate sale! Here's Susan Farrell's audition for KGTV weather: And the last story of a KGTV reporter who died the next day in a car accident:

  6. It's a distinctive look but doesn't hold up as well as the Jimenez sets. Those bulkheads hang down too low and make the talent look compressed. The WTVQ set is the best of that lot.

  8. You never know what you are going to find. I say this, because I came across something rare. WCBI-TV in Tupelo had a reporter named Dan Black and here are a few reports. While scanning through the video, I noticed the first moments of a WCBI newscast from 1979 with news open. You can view the news open with newscast at 4:26. Enjoy this rare piece of video. More rare video...this time, in Jackson, Tennessee. WBBJ-TV had a sports director named Jack Church and is featured in this video. There is no news open, but features a sportscast from Jack himself. Oh, wait. Jack Church also worked for WCBI-TV in Tupelo. Here's more of him from the early 1980s.
