  3. A little late to this, but.... 'Live' existed before Kelly and will likely exist after she's gone. ABC doesn't owe her anything. They hired her and if they so choose, could get rid of her. Everyone involved could've handled the Mike situation better, but what's done is done. Granted, she has played a big part in keeping the ship afloat over the years, that doesn't mean she gets to say/do whatever she wants. The last thing you want to do is feed an ego like hers. The same can be said if she were a guy. Like you said ' don't anger your talent...,' the same can be said about angering your employer.

  4. It's all the rural Minnesota news. Here's a KTTC open and a KEYC close in one clip from 1984: This 1985 KTTC open shows a new look and new open music: And a WTHR 11pm open from 1996:

  5. This is awesome. You captured all the opens I've ever stumbled upon. I asked Bob Hite on YouTube if he would post opens from Part of Your Life era or Spirit of Tampa Bay. I really would like to see the newscast from May 9, 1980. He said he has a copy of it. If you didn't know, Bob knew the bus driver that drove off the Skyway Bridge. Apparently, Bob was pretty emotional during that newscast. BTW, there used to be a video on YT with a short clip of a 1976 WFLA newscast but no open and I'm aware of the weather guy that posted clips from 1973.

  6. He was Milwaukee's answer to Marvin Zindler. Sad news from WITI-TV, long time TV6 News Anchor and Contact 6 consumer watchdog Tom Hooper has passed away at the age of 85. Over the course of his 35-year career in local news, most of it as Contact 6 anchor, Hooper's name be synonymous with the journalism principles of comforting the affected and giving voice to the voiceless. Hooper died this evening in his home in Georgia at 85. Prayers and condolences goes to The Hooper Family and his extended family at TV6 News (FOX 6 News WITI). RIP Tom and Godspeed. Say hello to Vince Gibbens from all of us here, and tell him we still miss him. https://fox6now.com/2018/10/19/longtime-fox6-news-anchor-tom-hooper-passes-away-at-85/

  7. Took them 10 months make this official?? They're just as bad as WMAQ at making decisions.

  8. The thing about this is if you and I made a controversial post on Social Media and our boss at work sees that, we would get fired. So the fact that the "General Manager" of KUSI hasn't fired his/her own "reporters" that have either made a controversial post on Social Media and/or have gotten themselves in trouble with the law speaks volumes that this so-called General Manager of KUSI does NOT care about establishing rules that say that your Social Media posts (personal page, professional page) cannot be controversial and if you get arrested and you're working for us (the station) then you will be terminated. But then again this is California we're talking about here and they will do whatever it takes to retain their employers

  9. So in other words we have seen reporters losing their jobs over posts made on Social Media yet this Mark Mathis guy only gets a "slap on the wrist" and is STILL employed at KUSI? I see a double standard to this issue here

  10. At KBEX-TV we use IBM's Selectric desktops ... Sure we could upgrade to those new Apple II computers... But our Selectric's make that real "News Noise".

  11. I found old news opens from KTVX's old days (when they had different call letters) from their website. The NMSA already has them, but I decided to upload the news opens to YouTube.
