  1. You can also see a tail end of the open in my compilation, voiced by Charlie Van Dyke (who’s still there in his second tenure):

  2. If Gray bought that station, they would convert that into WTVG's CW subchannel station and it would be a blessing for WMNT.

  3. They'll still get annihilated by WCJB in the ratings...

  4. I did. It's pretty much the main show's second hour now extended to a sixth day, minus the studio audience and twice the fluff.

  5. Their INN contract must have ran out and decided to bring news "in house" like Toledo and Wilkes-Barre getting news from South Bend.

  6. and blonde, going for the elderly angry white Fox News demo?

  7. I wouldn't even curse a Luken net with that disaster of a TV station; they still run everything in 480i 4:3 and are proud of their affiliation with AMGTV. Gray buying them would be like moving from a Super 8 to the Ritz-Carlton.

  8. I don't know if this belongs here, but it's kind of amusing. Lorene Wagner (former WSYX, WBNS) and her son Will. https://www.facebook.com/TheHetheringtonTeam/videos/3677872432238408/

  9. About the only reliable source of income newspapers have these days is public notices. Here in Maine there was a push to eliminate public notice advertising in newspapers, as newspaper circulation has fallen precipitously and government entities can publish public notices for free on their official websites or on Facebook or Twitter, but the newspaper lobby managed to nix that idea.

  10. As I said it is a vicious circle they have created. Cut reporters and columnists, many long time favorites, cut content, lose subscribers, then lose advertising. It's not a good model. Once GateHouse takes over, I'll probably drop my subscription too.

  11. Not fair. If you can't sell ads, you can't keep the place running. They can't sell classifieds because of Craig's List, department and appliance stores no longer can advertise in papers, car dealers use mostly digital platforms these days. Most of their profitable clients are gone. Without advertising money, you can't have as much staff. What they are trying to do makes sense in the current environment.

  12. Everytime I go to Central Florida on vacation, my team was always Bob and Martie. Always them, nobody else (even though you can put Jim and Wendy in that convo.) I'm so happy for her but Central Florida will soon lose a gripping, yet important voice in local news in the market. First Bob, now Martie. If I wish for anything, I just hope Bob can come back at least for one more day to join Martie on her final day. That's all I ask. That would be AMAZING to see Bob and Martie together, one final time before the year's up.

  13. This was a new one for me. Right after introducing the headlines for tonight's show, WMC went to a 30-second ad running on a split screen with views of the anchors taking their seats. Reminds me of something you'd see on a network morning show more than a late local newscast. Are there any other stations out there that do this? Perhaps this is a new thing for Gray? Or just WMC specifically?

  14. Does Gray mandate that stations must spell at least one word wrong per newscast per station? "Autospy" on WLBT and "alamanc" on WBTV. Embarrassing...

  15. While that statement may be true however the way I look at it, all of the stuff going on at WBNS (including what happened today with Mike Davis) is starting to catch up to 10TV. Don't be surprised if WSYX overtakes 10TV's ratings spot in additional time slots moving forward.
