  1. Since Jeff Smith filled in for Lee all week, he's off tonight. Filling in for him at 11, WTVD meteorologist Brittany Bell.

  2. IIRC the weekend shows were moved back to the 66th St studios because of the costs to rent out Times Square.

  3. Hope they keep GMA weekend in Times Square. Never understood why they broadcast from the WNT studio. They did the weekend show from Times Square for years (Namely the Bill Weir/Kate Snow era)

  4. Listen, no worries. Although the points are valid you just gotta remember that everyone else may have their own spin of things. Working 8.5 hours a day in the #1 market is no easy fate. Perhaps WABC doesn't have a breaking news anchor or an anchor who could do cut-ins during the GMA hour while Ken and Shirleen are prepping for the 12 noon newscast. If you go down the dial to WNBC and WCBS, they have similar situations. However, in the case of WNBC their morning anchors don't anchor the 11AM news, they have a breaking news anchor(s), and unless the 11AM anchors are off. Only WABC and WCBS have the same morning anchors broadcast the news at noon.

  5. We've already seen KXTV's coverage of Loma Prieta as it started to unfold—now we have a full, 45-minute (!) 11pm show from that night, and it's a treat with its own special open. Not the only long KXTV aircheck we got in the last week: five and a half minutes of coverage of the Sun Valley Mall plane crash in Concord from 1985. At the time, the station was still using the Tuesday "Spirit of California" theme:

  7. All I will say is CBS Evening News asked for this ratings drop to happen. The ingracious manner that they dumped Jeff Glor was repulsive, who although may not have the same gravitas as Cronkite or Rather, demonstrated impartiality in his reporting and was very talented. He was one of the few that just anchored the newscast, like old school style. No opinions from him. Just the facts and let the audience decide. They should've stayed with Glor for the long-haul. Yet the ingracious manner they dumped Glor was contrasted by how, on his final night, he decided to honor the people behind the scenes. He could've used that final segment to be about him, but instead he shined the spotlight on the team rarely (if ever) seen on air. That speaks volumes about his character. It's CBSEN's loss that they dumped him. I won't get into my personal opinions about Norah, but she is not exactly impartial on the air, which is a problem for CBSEN recovering its reputation and ratings. And deciding to move to DC was about as tone-deaf as anything. They should instead be working to re-build their credibility, which may take years to achieve. Getting to say you're live from Washington in a nice studio says nothing about your actual journalism and content. True that this ratings problem started decades ago, but CBS has the ability to do better. They just have to choose to do better.

  8. She's the least natural presenter of the 3 evening news anchors, her delivery always comes off a super try hard anchor woman even when she was on the morning show and her interviewing style is overly combative. I hardly find her reputable or personable. Scott Pelley, Anthony Mason, Margaret Brennan, John Dickerson, Don Dahler, possibly Major Garrett and Bob Schieffer. Doesn't CBS also have a deal with CNN, there are a number of talented CNN presenters that I would put ahead of Norah. Sorry to upset you or your opinion, I just think she was one of the weakest choices any of the networks have made in anchor in quite some time. Even Katie Couric made more sense. Norah's delivery is more suited for FTN than any other CBS broadcast. Her star power has done nothing to elevate the show and she was quite possibly the weakest of that CtM bunch after Gayle and Charlie. David Muir wasn't necessarily the most popular ABC News personality but he made sense and look where his broadcast is at, averaging almost 4-5x Norah's.

  9. Does stolen logos count as knockoffs? I'm asking this because KXPI-LD in Pocatello, Idaho stole the logos of FOUR other Fox stations! (KSWB, WNYW, WTTG and WAGA)

  10. I wish HLN would do more non-political news as a contrast to CNN. Or that CNN would stop being so fixated on 24/7 Trump coverage.
