  2. Moved your question over to this thread. I'm aware that they're in a process of building their new facility. But no telling when they'll be done with that. I doubt you'll see any further on-air changes before the move. However, they just change their music some weeks back (after WJBF changed theirs w/new gfx). So you may never know. Strange things have happen.

  3. No, they don't need a new set. Now that I think about it, the main Mardi Gras festivities are right around the corner. IMO, it's a good time to unveil the new graphics.

  4. Sounds fine to me. Not as weird as every station that picked up Wall to Wall News in the 2000s

  5. KSN's open from the early 2000s look like a ripoff of WTVJ's open from 1997 and they use the same music as them.

  6. A new clip of WMAQ's First Thing in the Morning from Bob Sirott's wacky early '90s stint at the station -- and early on in the clip, we even get a nice view of WMAQ's first newsroom set in the NBC Tower:

  7. Gayle is getting a lot of backlash. for this https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2020/02/05/kobe-bryant-gayle-king-sparks-outrage-questions-rape-charge/4672566002/ My question is... Why didn't Gayle (and everyone in the Media) question Bill Cosby In 2012 and 2013 and before and bring up prior accusations against him? Cosby allegations of rape and sexual assault had been well known and documented for many years before it exploded in 2014. Remember he settled a civil lawsuit with 11 women in 2006. There was also the women who accuse him of sexual assault in 2000. Why wasn't anyone talking about that until it resurfaced in 2014 (and 50 more women came forward to accuse him) and then acted shocked like they had just heard it for the first time?

  8. Actually, former sister-station KJCT uses Counterpoint for its Daybreak (simulcast on KKCO) & 5:30pm shows. EDIT: KKCO & KJCT uses The Rock (the rhythmic cue without the NBC chimes) for "The 10".

  9. Better than KRDO who's the last station using CounterPoint.

  10. WCAX did a wonderful job with their 60th anniversary special in 2014. It's one of the best station history documentaries I've ever seen. (And yes, it's not technically a pre-2008 video, but it has plenty of classic footage):

  11. Here's another WFLD newscast, this time from 1994. For a while in the '90s, WBBM and WFLD were trying "out-WSVN" each other with tabloid news values and graphics. Bizarrely, this edition leads with a health story:

  12. That's a very huge get for Circle. Circle's national HQ is in Nashville, Coffee, Country and Cody comes from 650 WSM Nashville, the Grand Ole Opry is in Nashville, the capital of country music is in Nashville... you get the point. This is one market that Circle needed to get into and they (finally) got it.

  13. The Gray-owned Circle network is now available in Nashville and in many other Meredith markets (not all of them yet, but it's a big move for Gray to add their channel in other markets). https://musicrow.com/2020/02/circle-launches-in-nashville-on-wsmv/

  14. Let them keep that old theme. KEYC & KNVN/KHSL are the only two clubs that's using it. While Inergy, Aerial & Guardian are being way overused.

  15. KEYC is using Metropolis...in 2020! METROPOLIS...IN THE YEAR 2020!

  16. Most likely from one of their little flashcam setups. Perfectly acceptable for a solo anchor, but not co-anchors. With ABC News LIVE relaunching this evening, I would bet WNT will remain in the same spot as over the weekend.

  17. A couple of notes tonight.... The FCC granted them the waiver last Tuesday. And were able to close the WYCI & WYCX-LD sale on Friday. Also, not sure when it launched, but it appears Presque Isle's new NBC Affiliate WWPI-LD is on the air. The FCC granted an STA to launch the LP back in December. It appears some cable customers complained that didn't like them replacing that nearby Tegna station (WLBZ) for this new station.

  18. 1983 Week 11 Seattle/St. Louis NFL broadcast on NBC, from the old Busch Stadium in St. Louis (preceded by a full edition of NBC's NFL '83 pregame show w/Len Berman, Pete Axthelm, Bill Macatee, Dave Marash and Ahmad Rashad; the first time I've ever seen that season's NFL pregame show from NBC)

  19. By the way, if you've wondered what happened to the other longtime Chicago anchor in the clip above -- Jim Ruddle --, here's your answer: https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/catching-up-with-jim-ruddle_chicago/1979306/ And here's a 1976 clip of Ruddle from Chicago's WTTW, where he co-anchored The Callaway-Ruddle Report (the forerunner of Chicago Tonight) before joining WMAQ:

  20. I've wondered about Craig myself. I was hoping that there would be a where-are-they-now article mentioning him, but I haven't been able to find it. By the way, here's a clip of Craig from 1978, when he was still at WMAQ:
