From what I was able to find out about it, Real Life apparently was cleared on 147 NBC stations (at least, initially) when it debuted in March 1996. (It was one of many failed talk show attempts that NBC tried during the first half of the 1990s, including among others, One on One with John Tesh, the Faith Daniels-hosted A Closer Look and an eponymous program hosted by Night Court star Marsha Warfield.) It effectively was a replacement for another failed talk show, The Other Side (an Unsolved Mysteries-esque series focusing on paranormal phenomena) which following its cancellation in late 1995 was temporarily replaced by a secondary run of Leeza Gibbons’ daytime talker, Leeza (the only reasonably successful talk show NBC aired during that period, before it was sent off into syndication in 1999, when NBC dropped it, NBC News at Sunrise [subsequently replaced by Early Today] and long-running soap Another World [which was replaced by Passions, even though Sunset Beach had even lower ratings than AW, which was in ninth place vs. Sunset’s 11th/last-place showing among the daytime soaps at the time] from its schedule). Along with in-studio segments from Boston, the show also featured reports filed by correspondents based in New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Miami and Philadelphia. Persistently low ratings led NBC to cancel Real Life in the fall of 1996, and hosts Lu Hanessian and Ken Taylor (who both had NBC connections prior to its premiere; Taylor as co-anchor of the weekend editions of WNBC’s Today in New York, Hanessian as host of the talk show Have a Heart on MSNBC predecessor America’s Talking) left prior to the end of its run; the show was replaced by the Aaron Spelling-produced soap Sunset Beach in January 1997.3 points

Given how uninspired and/or dire a lot of local TV logos have been the last 20 years or so, I'll take it.2 points

There's no need to attempt at race-baiting. Nobody mentioned race until you did. People on this site are just having a healthy discussion as things continue to develop regarding Tegna. Just because someone mentions a person by name has nothing to do with race. You really need to lighten up a bit, with all due respect.2 points

First off it's not an obsession it's a simple fact that Kim has taken on an investment into Tegna and he doesn't want to waste his 11.8% in Tegna, period. And as typical you just had to bring up a topic that doesn't need to get brought up that will derail this thread so I suggest we stop that "race" thing now.2 points

Now you can throw Denver into the mix. Are they just spinning the wheel and choosing a random O&O for The Evening News? So far I’ve seen KCBS, KTVT and now KCNC.2 points

At the end of this Battle Soo Kim will take over and win. Don't be surprised if he starts to get a new graphics package done to replace C Clarity.2 points

I’m thinking this is temporary. They closed the deal in the middle of coronavirus mania so it’s not really a good time to rebuild a station from scratch. Between news from KHOU, Tegna shows such as DBL and Sister Circle and syndie stuff not airing in Houston, there’s plenty available out there and I’m guessing they’ll roll things out when it calms down. Spending $15 million to buy a station that airs a straight simulcast of Quest makes zero sense.1 point

WOW!!! You think @oknewsguy actually wants Kim to take over the stations?1 point

Honestly I'm not that big of a fan. If they had the 10 numbers solid instead of those lines maybe I would like it more. But I do like the Tampa Bay font below it. I'm going to miss the coastal "wave" theme of their outgoing logo. We'll have to see how it looks when they actually roll this out OTA. Maybe it'll look better than this preview...we shall see either way1 point

We'll find out April 30th, but Kim is not deterred by anything not even COVID-19 is slowing down his quest to either get Tegna to sell or takeover the company and he's NOT going to let Tegna's rejection of his nominees stop him from getting what he wants. Period.1 point

It's a really cool logo! But it's no faux throwback. Got this higher-res version: It seems the first video with this logo was uploaded March 30.1 point

Two episodes of a rare and short lived NBC daytime magazine show REALlife from 1996. The reason I'm posting this onto here is because it was taped at the studios of WHDH. Joel Cheatwood was also executive producer. Could anymore enlighten me more on this show? I know it aired on only a few smaller stations and the O&Os.1 point

I got some WBNS vibes in that "10" although it's not exactly in the style of WBNS's logo.1 point

CNN Center is very much alive if you watch CNN International. They mention Atlanta often as well, something daytime shows based out of New York don’t seem to like to do, even though their control room is in Atlanta (anything after New Day and before The Lead is switched in ATL).1 point

There may be a tinge of truth to this, but I'd love to hear women's perspective. Maybe as a society people have a subconscious preference for the way we'd like to see a woman appear on TV, and this comment is a manifestation of that. I'm not saying the preference is invalid or not ok, but I've never seen anyone comment on this site about any male anchor not smiling enough.1 point

I can't wait for all this to blow up in Soo Kim's face.0 points

so... what is with your obsession with mr. Kim??? never see anyone saying "Leon Black is trying to take over Cox"... same for Dave Lougee... "Dave Lougee is buying up Raycom..." mr. Kim is the only executive you all mention by name... hope it's not race related... just saying...-5 points
