  1. Tegna CEO Dave Lougee released a 21 minute video to employees discussing the status of their COVID operations and answer employee questions. Personnel will be allowed back in building on a market-by-market basis, and even then only for select people. He doesn't foresee any future furloughs or change to employee benefits. He also hinted that some people may be allowed to work from home permanently, but that wouldn't be decided until a much later undetermined date. Give Tegna slack for what you want, but they have done an excellent job being transparent with their employees about what the company's philosophy and approach to this crisis is. That's certainly a lot more than some other companies have done or would ever do.

  2. May she rest in peace... this is the newscast that's closest to my birth date online (I was born the day before) so this is cool to see. On a random search in the Web Archive, I found some interesting WJZ Stuff: https://archive.org/details/WJZ-EYE-002-019 - December 17, 1977 Eyewitness News - Oprah's not happy about something before she does her tease, one of the last news opens with the "WJZ 1975 News Theme" https://archive.org/details/WJZ-EYE-002-018 - December 19, 1977 Eyewitness News - The noon newscast here is the last with the theme, which features a long close. The debut of a new set and a new theme (Telesound's "Number Thirteen") is midway through the video.

  4. Wow, way to go! Taking joy in someone else’s misery. Was it the right thing? A good employer would’ve tried to get them the right help. Yeah, good luck getting an answer to that question. He rarely responds. Thank you, finally a voice of reason.

  5. I worked with a news anchor who battled an alcohol addiction. It's not just about someone having too much fun and getting carried away, there sometimes are much deeper issues we don't know about. My co-workers and I tried to build up a strong support network around her, but she still ended up losing her job and eventually her life due to this addiction. When we're talking about on air talent on this website, I don't think it's a lot to ask that you try to have some kind of respect for the person - as we have no idea what they were going through when they made the decisions they did.

  6. It was a horrible day when he passed away. No pun intended but I was like JFK or MLK dying to that station it was horrible. Serious lost WJZ it changed them forever and they still haven't gotten over it. Sad irony it that he became lead anchor after Jerry Turner death and Denise Koch did after Al Sanders died it was sad. Denise still kicking she real trooper of that generation.
