  6. WGNO was coming in tonight....so i'm giving it a watch and seeing how it compares with WKRN's version of the KOIN package. Overall, I like the WKRN implementation more. The only thing I would say is to use the coloring that WGNO uses on their main supers for WKRN. The purple(ish) ticker on WGNO DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. Either do the whole package in Mardi gras colors or don't do it at all. It looks like a sore thumb when combined with the graphics in the primary colors. Reading back through this thread, the original KOIN version has that turquoise-ish shade of blue, and subsequent launches have opted for either a navy or lighter shade of blue. I don't know if there's a "safety tab" on these graphics, it looks like there is dead space to the right of the words, maybe it's a trigger if more characters are needed, and if the max is reached, the "auto-stretch" kicks in? But that's a producer thing, so their supers aren't too long. It's like the newspaper headline of this century. Short and effective supers. And since the package sort of has the Tegna-vibe to it, is this the way that WGNO is trying to out-WWL....WWL? At least this comparision can't be made in Nashville since they don't have a Tegna station.

  7. I would think the station’s executive team would be the ones to determine what the station’s holiday promo is all about, not you. Traditions are nice, but they can also evolve. Doing something one way just because it’s always been done that way is the worst way to do anything. Hoping your holidays are happier than The Grinch that appeared in a previous year’s WNBC holiday promo.

  9. A full hour block of CNN Headline News from July 13, 1987 - the day that CNN and HN moved from its Techwood Drive studios to its then-new location at CNN Center: Previously posted on YouTube, here's the very first CNN broadcast from CNN Center on the same date:

  10. Honestly, if the pandemic keeps delaying production of prime time shows, I expect someone somewhere's going to try a regular proper newscast in a 9 or 10PM slot.

  11. The year from hell at WFSB continues. Noon anchor/Better Connecticut co-host/de facto health reporter Kara Sundlun has COVID and at minimum her Better Connecticut co-host, morning meteorologist Scot Haney, is quarantining as well, doing the weather from home as had been standard practice at the outset of COVID. The rest of their morning team is in the studio as of this morning, I'm surprised they haven't had to self-quarantine as well as a precaution. For a clearer version of that image, click here.
