  1. Seeing these designs, a few of them my own, reminds me that the 80's were a very interesting time for set design, I remember my first gig at G&G in 87'...I was the first TV News set designer to use CAD and 3D renderings when I went out on my own. Prior to that I remember drawing those 3 point perspective drawings and then airbrushing them with layers upon layers of hand cut frisket paper. Man, we have come a long way since then...thanks for the stroll down memory lane!

  2. From 1982, presumably the launch edition of the "new 10pm Report" on WCCO in the Twin Cities:

  3. Here's a news pieces from Independent Network News and WNEW's PM Magazine from 1981 focused on early home satellite owner John Flynn, and it was even uploaded by John himself!

  5. Great! I preferred the CTM eye opener as it was more of a current events summary, than a promo for upcoming stories in the 7:00 hour like CBS Morninngs' is.

  6. I could see Amanda Barren resurfacing at either WCHS or WOWK. Lots of former WSAZ people, whether they left on their own terms or fired for cause have crossed the street. Given Sinclair's past "bias" and the general consensus of politics in West Virginia, they would throw money at her when she's free and clear to jump over. And if the only reason was because of the vaccine, well, you get the idea. While not related, lest we forget Tom McGee, who's antics didn't stop him from going from WCHS (first DUI)....to WOWK (lawsuit and bad behavior)....back to WCHS (second dui), and resurfacing at the failed WHCP (now Gray's WQCW) news department. While these antics ended his time at each station, the memory was short enough for him to start anew elsewhere.

  9. Big name anchors/reporters substituting on the evening news: Barbra Walters in for Peter Jennings (1995) Mike Wallace in for Roger Mudd (1971) Ed Bradley in for Dan Rather (2002)

  10. 'Today' (1982). Loving how sped up the format is at this point compared to the Brokaw & Walters years. Not too slow and not the ADHD level pacing of today. It also seems that they were frequently experimenting with sets. I've seen the blue version of this current set before but wasn't aware there was a brown variation as well. The sets from the late 70s up until the O.G. studio 1a (which was awesome) were all very well done.

  11. Pizza Hut too, a near-carbon-copy of their vintage logo. I'm OK with that!

  12. It's a black circle with three letters in it. It isn't really that special of a logo, but I guess of course they're going to try and sell the change as new! fresh! and innovative!. There, I said it. Get back to me when NBC or CBS tries to change up the peacock or eye.

  13. I do like the new ABC logo, but not the size of it. Rather the ABC size be same size as the 7 logo and be right beside it. Like CBS 2 for example. By 2033, we should have this logo.
