  1. Nexstar couldn't be that shortsighted. This is not Lexington, KY where you have a low-quality competitor (cough, WTVQ). In the Triangle, your competitors are some of the best stations in the entire country. There will be no way WNCN can poach viewers away unless Nexstar does something different, and launching another newscast is not the solution.

  2. WRAL started the practice and WNCN continued it in 2016. Thought WNCN would move it when it got the affiliation. My Carolina Talk moves up to 9am. I imagine they will start a 4pm news.

  4. That is why in the MG era, WNCN's newscasts were 6:00, 7:00 (instead of 5:00) and 11, and with neither WRAL or WTVD doing a 7 at that time, it gave them a way to catch viewers who otherwise watch one of WRAL or WTVD.

  5. Good luck finding an aircheck this old in this good of quality. WTMJ April 10th, 1968.

  6. According to TV Passport, WNCN in Raleigh is cutting the noon newscast down to a half hour, and moving The Young and the Restless to 12:30p (currently they air it at 4p). Y&R has aired at 4p in Raleigh since 1993.

  7. Quick reminder: The CBS affiliate in Lima is WOHL-CD, owned by the owners of WDRB (Block Communications).

  8. Spectrum in Cleveland has created a new cable spot for the new Telemundo station. It's on 17, where Court TV used to air (it moved to 16). However, it's listed on the guide as WOHZ and is showing CBS Lima.

  9. Enforcer has seen several iterations of updates. Stations can use anything they want, composed from 1994 to 2020. However, stations typically use a mix of themes which can make the branding sound inconsistent. CBS Local was composed on the cheap. Stations are becoming less willing to pay for high quality music. So you get a lot of rushed, almost ubiquitous sounding packages that don't set the station apart from any other in the market. ABC has the edge because they invest more in station resources.

  10. Yes, yes, because THAT'S the stations' problems. Not the decades of mismanagement, budget cuts, and subsequent poor ratings. Really, most here need to get a grip. I don't want to say that CBS Local is a downgrade from modern Enforcer (though I think it is), but it DEFINITELY wouldn't be some magical problem-solver, either. More than just about any cosmetic adjustment we've ever discussed here, such a theme change across the board might be the most unnoticeable of all time, to the average viewer. Hell, I have no problem saying that neither Gari nor Stephen Arnold have produced the best adaptations of the WBBM signature. They just happened to be the powerhouse music companies of their eras, therefore most accessible for the average client.
