  1. Sure, that sounds better, but those are two different asks. If people DVR the broadcast it contributes to the program's ratings.

  2. If they do go 24/7 with news, they can kiss that JAG and Blue Bloods audience goodbye (as well that who love In The Heat of the Night).

  3. I was also mocking the press release billing the lineup changes as the greatest thing since sliced bread. I actually like the moves but they are totally overselling it. (For those not on the server, NewsNation is referred to meme-wise as “Matlock” because 1) Matlock doesn’t actually air on the channel, 2) the channel’s highest rated programming is the rerun block of JAG and Blue Bloods and 3) the alternative is either crying or continually being very frustrated at something that never lived up to expectations.)

  4. Realistically speaking, a graphics package isn’t going to make or break a station.

  5. Tony will not bring the newscast to #1, but I'm sure the thought is that he'd cost less to be #3. CBS is in a no-win situation. Norah isn't connecting with viewers but changing anchors every few years isn't going to win anyone over either. I think the first mistake was letting Scott Pelley out of the chair. Edit: OK, that's far from the network's first mistake, but I do think it was a mistake

  6. Donlon Making a move back to WGN would sound pointless IMO. Besides Slots for anchors there are full.

  7. I’ve mentioned it on the Discord server but with the “5,500 journalists” and hundreds of TV stations behind them, you’d think that NewsNation would have an inventory of documentaries to run as filler on the weekends instead of a marathon of Last Man Standing reruns.

  8. I can always watch In The Heat of the Night on MeTV and Bounce. BTW, Where's Joe Donlon going to go now that he leaving?

  10. Another veteran B-Ham anchor leaving. Longtime Birmingham broadcaster and current CBS 42 (WIAT) main anchor Art Franklin is leaving the station to pursue business interests. His last day at the station is Friday, April 29th. Birmingham CBS station will now soon be looking for a new main anchor. IMO, I believe that weekend evening anchor Michael Clark will be Art's successor. http://www.birminghamtimes.com/2022/03/news-anchor-art-franklin-to-depart-cbs-42-will-pursue-business-interests/?fbclid=IwAR1M4rpFi1ARWNEZbbKzk69N5uY93nZRFPTQTAgiaT-rUIGuq1X6A5o5zL4

  12. A graphics package definitely won't make a station, but it could make the station so much of an eyesore that the viewers associate the station with bad design. That discourages viewers from tuning in. Just look at WSB, which despite having a perfectly modern product is losing viewers at a faster than average rate.

  13. It will contribute, however.

  14. It was edited, as a joke, which the original poster should've clarified, when bringing it from the Discord server to the TVNT forum.

  18. Sad news from former WJKS (WCWJ) news and sports anchor Glen Fisher. It was on WJKS-TV Facebook fanpage that former WJKS, ESPN, FOX Regional Sports, and KCAL 9 sports anchor Alan Massengale had passed away today. Alan's wife, Elizabeth posted on her Facebook page said that Alan had a bad fall this morning which caused a severe brain bleed, and he was put on full life support. Alan's wife and her three adult children made the difficult decision to not have him suffer. Prayers and condolences go out to The Massengale Family in this exceedingly difficult time. UPDATE: Alan Massengale's bad fall/severe brain bleed was the result of his death due to his battle with colon cancer.
