Well, which one of us called into WNEP TalkBack Feedback, as a 80-year old person complaining about the word NXT? LOL5 points

I'm not in the business, just a viewer, but I'm beginning to think this is getting to be a kind of "Waiting for Godot" scene. The Samuel Beckett play when two poor bums spend days sitting there expecting somebody named Godot any time. No luck. This guy and that guy pass down the road. "Was that him? Maybe that might have been him." they ask each other. Nope. Nothing. But for all this I wouldn't expect anything until either the beginning of the TV season in September, or even in late October when the traditional "sweep" begins, if that is even a thing in major markets now.2 points

Is Fort Myers even that lively of a metro area to require that many newscasts? (wouldn't combine with previous post)2 points

If it wasn't for Scripps trying to make their Must-Run Hour a thing (along with advertorials), a lot of their NBC affiliates would be in the same position. We're also losing RightThisMinute, so that's a lot of stations that already had an hour free going into summer. CBS Daytime is proud of their 36-year daytime #1 streak, so just for that I wouldn't count it out yet just based on that boast; it'll be considered when ABC blinks and moves General Hospital to Freeform or Hulu or cancels it and CBS just declares 'flawless victory' by attrition. The Talk would likely go over the soaps for a newshour More likely they want to hit that round number of 40 years, and then bring those shows to a dignified end with proper closures for both.2 points

Congratulations to WFMJ for finally realizing 1988 happened 34 years ago and it's time to have a 5pm newscast.2 points

On the TVNT Discord, there was a post shared from TheWrap that Lemon and Jim Acosta are staying put, for now.1 point

It would all depend on when the affiliation agreements are up with these stations and *if* Nexstar uses its power to decline a renewal, or if the other owners decide they don't want to run a network that's now largely owned by a competitor. If Nexstar uses "plan A", that could possibly cause some antitrust issues even if the station is good to go as a subchannel...it all could hinge upon market share if Nexstar swoops in to take what's theirs and make their slice of the pie too much....1 point

A hurricane-afflicted area with a lot of transplants needing homes remodeled or built does keep siding, roofing, concrete, HVAC and pool contractors and maintainers well in the black...and you need to get around by car too, so dealers get their piece too, along with a captive tourism audience wanting to head north or east. Today in Florida was launched at the right time; WTVJ and NBC can't copyright that as long as the Ansins keep puttering along. There won't be a name change anytime soon, and I could see them gaining two hours eventually when Rachael ends or if Sherri (don't know if they're carrying that) doesn't succeed. Divorce Court will continue to exist just because it now has AVOD/YouTube channel revenue coming in along with syndication, and spouses will want to air their stuff out on TV.1 point

I remember KCNC 4 in Denver used to be all news outside of NBC programming in the 90s. They went by KCNC--Colorado's News Channel. That changed when CBS took over the station and they added some syndicated programming to the schedule.1 point

I thought WSVN was extreme then I saw KTLA. At least KTLA's morning product is infotainment. WSVN has a straight hard newscast in the morning time. if they can pull off Deco Drive for this long I'm sure they can try their hand at "Good Day Miami".1 point

The key word here is "ownership" of the property, so it would be Gray Television's to do as they please. I imagine they've been leasing Reserve Square since the big switch to CBS and move of both stations from Shaker Heights and Parma... Malrite probably made a killing in the 90s to sell the old WUAB site to a developer. It became an Office Max when they were an up-and-coming retailer headquartered in Cleveland, and Parmatown Mall was still a draw to shoppers. Most TV stations prefer to own their property, and many have done so for decades... What was old is new again, as WOIO and WUAB could very well move out of Cleveland and back in to the suburbs...1 point

I've noticed the Tegna "music" creeping into in-show bumpers.....has anyone complained about THAT?1 point

They don’t look that far off from the “NOW” and CBS News streaming graphics, and they look to be using the new CBS font, so it seems plausible. They’re only 2ish weeks away from debuting that newscast, though I imagine they’ll be ironing out any kinks over that period1 point

Let us hope that Don Lemon and Oliver Darcy would be next to get the sack.....but, then again, I'm not going to hold my breath for that one.1 point

Damn…when stations are even outdoing WSVN in terms of news hours, you know things have gone crazy. Then again, I suppose this isn’t a new development, so it’s not as shocking as it might have been years ago. SW Florida stations must be raking it in when it comes to ad revenue.1 point

That whole market is crazy. WBBH is 4:30-7:00am, 11:00am-1:00pm, 3:00-6:30 and 11:00-11:35pm. WINK is 4:30-7:00am, 12:00-12:30pm, 3:00-6:30, 7:00-7:30 and 11:00-11:35pm. It also does 7:00-11:00am, 6:30-7:00 and 10:00-11:00pm for WXCW. WZVN is 4:30-7:00, 9:00-11:00am, 6:00-6:30, 7:00-7:30 and 11:00-11:35pm. WFTX is 6:00-11:00am, 5:00-7:00 and 10:00-11:30pm. Yes... there are THREE 10:00am local morning newscasts in Southwest Florida. If you don't count for cable-only options in Tampa Bay and Orlando, there are none everywhere else in the state of Florida, including my own home market (Miami).1 point

Not only they have new graphics, they’re now using “Stream” by Stephen Arnold Music.1 point

It is. WTVG in Toledo used it until switching to an updated version of Peters' "The Winners" later in '84.1 point

It actually looks really good. They just need to get rid of that stupid logo, even though they won't lol.1 point

I don't get the pessimism on here about this. The soaps have run their course. We've all known that for the better part of two decades now. NBC's also not going to replace it with any other kind of conventional program like another tired talk show. NBC News Now is a really high quality product, and this is a great opportunity to get traditional TV audiences to sample it. Somebody's finally going to try a true midday national newscast. I also don't think this is that much of a competitor response to GMA3 – that show is garbage, whereas NBC News Now is actual news. It's not going to be pretty though when word gets back to the Days of Our Lives audience that their beloved show is moving to some far-flung internet outlet. I would not want to be answering phones at an NBC affiliate this fall, as that is a very small but pretty rabid fanbase. I remember whenever NBC would pre-empt DOOL for something else, such as the Olympics, the French Open or a news special report, a DOOL fan would call in and accuse *us,* not NBC, of pre-empting DOOL and would threaten to call NBC to get them to pull our affiliation. Lol.1 point

You must’ve watched a different Brian Stelter than I’ve watched. For nearly its entire run under Stelter and Jeff Zucker, Reliable Sources was a PR machine for CNN disguised as a media analysis program. While they rightfully pointed out instances in which Fox News lacked journalistic ethics, I can’t remember the last time they seriously scrutinized their own network for blatant bias and lapses in judgement. Not to mention, in June the show only averaged 79k in the 25-54 demo. People should’ve seen this move coming from miles away. You mention Ted Turner, but even he mentioned that today’s CNN needed to tone down the opinion. Letting Stelter walk is a start.1 point

If it wasn’t for WFMJ wanting to counterprogram WKBN at 5pm with Maury, then Oprah, then Ellen, WFMJ would’ve done it YEARS ago.1 point

From KRDO alumni Russell Sylvain's YouTube Channel, check out this 1987-89 news open from KRDO ABC 13 in Colorado Springs/Pueblo. WHERE WFAA MEETS KCRA. The Channel 3 Reports theme - Where the News Comes First by L. Earl Grizzell - was used on NEWS13. Moreover, KRDO had taken cues from WFAA, and made the aerial footage with anchor headshots and john hancocks on lower 3rds. Looks like the aerial footage was shot on film in the chopper to give the news open a big-city look. In the election eve aircheck, you'll hear the directors track throughout the aircheck.1 point

Kelly airs at 3p on KRIV with a second run overnight on KTXH. Moving to the Dr. Phil spot on KPRC (1p) would be a demotion. Also, KPRC has indicated they are looking at expanding Houston Life in the near future so, if that happens, the 2p hour currently occupied by Days and soon NBC News would slide to 1p. Houston Life would expand into the 2p hour, leaving no room for syndication, whatever it might be.0 points

I've seen a commercial on WILX TV the Gray Television NBC Lansing station where it looks as if their 4pm show "STUDIO10" is about to be shown the door and daytime replays of Jeopardy and Wheel will take over at 4 starting in September when NBCNews Daily debuts at 1 any confirms0 points
