  1. In terms of copying CBS This Morning ( I can't get with the new title CBS mornings ) I wish GMA and Today would follow CTM's lead with better story choices instead of pop culture and tabloid level human interest pieces. Does this work for CNN? It remains to be seen. Do I have high hopes for this? No. BUT, whatever keeps them from talking about HIM for 18 hours is a step in the right direction. Possible antidote: hard news and non argumentative (preferably non-panel) analysis from a variety of subject matter.

  2. reminds me of their earlier 2010s L3 which I like much better than the current ones. They were much cleaner and slicker. Finally! Dick is a good anchor and he'll be solid with Dana. Agreed that she wasn't that strong of a solo anchor. Comparably, I'd say Chuck Scarborough on News 4 is a decent solo anchor but he's better with a co-anchor at 6 as well. As someone mentioned earlier about a 4pm newscast, I hope WCBS doesn't do that and sticks with Judge Judy reruns. There's enough news as is on daytime tv and WCBS's product is already pretty generic (though I do like Lonnie, Maurice and Kristine as a team).

  4. WXYZ in Detroit just changed their mics to show the new ABC logo. They are also using the new ABC logo in their promotions a lot more. The issue is their news openings as it still features the old ABC logo. Scripps need to allow their ABC stations to upgrade to the new ABC logo in their news openings.

  6. From a news consumer perspective this is new paint slapped on the same old thing. The debut newscasts lead with live reports from ANF crews in South Carolina and Florida. If you go with a name like "Atlanta News First" I expect local news to be up front - or at least the local perspective. Why send local resources when you have CBS and presumably CNN crews to provide national coverage? If you're going to climb out of last place you can't expect fresh branding on the same product to accomplish anything.

  7. It's not. I would know. I've only been actively watching WLS for more than 20 years.

  9. And today as well. Danny Freeman handled the 11am yesterday. On a related note, Bill must be losing it. Yesterday he referred to Katie (who was filling in for Sheila) as Sheila. Today he referred to Frances as Rosemary.
