  2. Nice! I'm not a fan of it in 1A.

  3. I'm fine with it. The pandemic accelerated a lot of changes. Ties feel excessively formal and stuffy.

  4. I dont mind the iconic 1a pulling double duty, but its current incarnation doesnt look good. It's barely even a set, just a barren vat of video walls.

  5. Not limited to CNN but when Today and GMA rush through stories in the first half hour it leaves the rest of the broadcast with fluff or repetition. Not to mention the exagurated urgency and ADHD level pacing of trying to fit stories into a minute or so.

  6. It would cost millions to re-brand the network, so a name change isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Plus, one would hope they learned a lesson when they renamed WGN America before getting rid of the non-news programming.

  7. The perception should be 'there's nothing but fulfilling news in this program' and you won't run into Morning Save, a native advertising pill ad disguised as an interview, or fluff memoir trash...but then most of the news is stuck on the ticker or in brief (leaving the viewer to seek it out on the .com or app for more), stories that just run overlong, or the news is unimportant fluff after a certain point but still technically 'news'.

  8. Interesting. I always thought it was odd that he was replaced on the morning show and put onto what seemed like a pretty meaningless 11am/4pm midday shift not too long ago.

  9. An excellent choice. His pickup of Schitt's Creek for Pop TV (along with its subsequent surge in popularity on Netflix) and especially its cleanup at the 2020 Primetime Emmys for its final season make him a perfect candidate.

  10. The account was disabled from posting any more videos. I should have worded it better. Still, very disappointing, but it is what it is. Besides, my life is too busy for VHS digitizing. I expect Christmas uploads to AVTB YouTube will be lower than any other year since I started digitizing 7 yrs. ago. I'll be lucky to finish 10 full tapes, even during winter break for most schools. I'm substitute teaching 3-5 days a week in local elementary schools + working pizza deliveries on weekends for another 12-14 hrs./week added on to subbing.

  11. Hopefully, once they hire their programming chief, they can nail down what type of network they want the CW to be. I fear this may turn into a NewsNation situation were programming is all over the place and shows are incompatible with each other. I get wanting to save money and whatnot, but that can't be done overnight. They need slow down a bit and plan things out.

  12. Yeah... it's way too casual of a look for a news anchor (regardless of the time of day). Not sure if this is an attempt to appeal to a younger demo, but this isn't the way to do it.

  13. I feel CBS News Detroit is being pushed to late November the earliest. There are rumors of set delays, which is why it’s taking so long. All I know is, they are close. Very, very close.

  14. Apologies for being late to the party, but I wanted to say thanks to those of you who advocated for changing the thread title and followed through. It’s a small thing, but it matters to some of us.

  15. No answer on that one, but I Hope they’re doing better than ever. If they are, maybe there’s potential for WOIO in Cleveland to rename itself as WONF, Ohio News First, and potential for WXIX in Cincinnati to rename Themselves as WCNF, Cincinnati News First.

  16. Why would he sue Tegna? They’re not in charge of whether the deal gets approved or not; it’s the DOJ’s call.

  17. Alright people, I'm back, let's talk sports. Attendance did look paltry for the most part.. if the USFL has teams play in home cities next season, I can only wonder if that'll still be the case. Orlando and San Antonio make sense... attendance numbers were strong when the AAF was in town (SA led the league, average of 27,721, Orlando nearing 20k).. Vegas sticks out though, with no stadium deal in place (would assume they'd try to stick a deal at Allegiant, I think Sam Boyd's out of the equation). Be interesting to see what happens next.

  18. They got 1.52 million for the championship game, and about 715k on average. Not superb, but not bad for a startup league. Also, they finished the season, which is more than could be said for the AAF/XFL. And they’re renewed for a second season.

  20. These days, Lima has in-market affiliates for all four major networks, but a brief search of Lima's Charter Spectrum TV listings suggests that they retain CBS from Columbus, OH and ABC from Toledo, OH. https://www.tvtv.us/oh/lima/luUSA-OH34468-X Parkersburg has NBC, CBS, and FOX; Optimum imports ABC from Columbus, OH and Charleston, WV in addition to importing NBC from Charleston, WV. https://tvtv.us/wv/parkersburg/luUSA-WV47500-X

  22. Layoffs have begun. Many longtime CW execs are being replaced by Nexstar staffers. Nexstar is searching for a new programming chief. Former Pop TV head Brad Schwartz is in the running.

  23. Very GMA with the opening shot and angle of the three anchors. Very CBS This Morning with the shape of the table and the tri anchor formatting which also has GMA undertones. Sometimes the constant mentioning of working life and kids can come off as forced efforts to make the anchors seem like friends or relatable to the audience.

  24. And why would two different stations in the same state do this? Kinda pointless for one station to be Ohio News First if another station in the same state adopted the same brand.

  25. Don't get carried too away. They'll only do this on their flagship market so that this sucker can succeed. Also, WXIX is #1 in Cincinnati. Why change that?
