  1. And with Nexstar's streaming service they can...... ...oh wait...

  2. Streaming? That’s just a fad. Betamax, that is the future.

  3. Then tell WSYX that.... They been pretty damn successful doing that. A logo ain't going to make or break a news operation... Content however will make or break it.

  4. Honestly outside the Saudi Arabia stuff, LIV is pretty much just those who would usually migrate to the Senior/Champions Tour just trying to find a new place to play for money, because they have both egos and don't want to make way for new golfers and go gently into that good night and refuse to give up their past glory. Or younger golfers who just want to participate in the big tournaments and hate that they have to play in other tourneys like the St. Jude and Memorial to earn their way, or be on the PGA money list or be eligible for the FedEx Cup. It is 100% the Sour Grapes League and they just found the worst sucker of all to finance it, and the most desperate broadcaster to show it; it says something that Scripps or Ion didn't even bother or Fox let the paper company behind MyNet do so either. I don't forsee CW stations really boycotting it outright, but if they have weekend afternoon programming that already works, they might just bump LIV to overnights if it attracts a really lousy demographic and ratings. Their weekend advertising base is already poisoned enough with Weekend Adventure's geriatric bent, and the Has-Beens and Never Weres of Golf aren't moving that age down any at all.

  5. I’d be surprised if you don’t see Gray, Scripps, Sinclair and CBS just cut ties with the CW outright. Not because of LIV but because those groups all have their own in-house options to replace the primetime block. LIV merely greased the skids.

  7. Looks like WTVQ is rolling out a newer "modified" logo and bringing back the "On Your Side" slogan. I personally would've like to seen Newschannel brought back as well.

  8. ie… WUAB could go back to its pre-CW scheduling (CLE43 II: Electric Boogaloo).

  10. Both Paramount and Warner Bros Discovery have their own streaming services. They both don't need The CW at all. "All American" can easily move to either of the services.

  15. The issue in the newest allegations is not a matter of age and whether someone is adult enough to consent. The issue is a sexual relationship allegedly occurring between someone in a position of power and a subordinate, and allegations that sexual encounters took place on company property inside the office of the person in power. Even if that was fully consensual and the subordinate felt no pressure to engage in the relationship, that is a relationship that must be disclosed. In the case of TJ and Amy, neither are subordinates to the other, so there is no issue there. I have been fully supportive of TJ and Amy returning to air and ABC moving on from this. If the latest allegations are true, whether in part or in whole, then ABC should terminate TJ for cause and without any buyout offer. Unless Amy knew of the prior relationship with the subordinate and failed to report it, then I don’t see how ABC has a case to terminate her for cause, but do understand having her just sign a separation agreement with a buyout. It’s really unfortunate for both of them. Surely, they were both being eyed as the future of Good Morning America.

  16. It could be U62 The CW! Everything on that channel was better than anything currently on The CW.

  17. Dude. It is owned by Saudi Arabia who's noted for their human rights abuses and corruption. It's gross.

  18. Think: USFL We'll see. Competition is good. One of these days, one of these upstart leagues will be successful.

  19. tbh, it’s a near certainty that Nexstar will kill off the app outright. It’d fit in with their “streaming bad, excessive retrans fees good” digital strategy. Ever wanted to see a cheapo small-market broadcast chain that lucked itself into getting all sorts of high-profile properties squander it all under antiquated thinking? Well now’s your chance!

  20. Jaisol Martinez made her debut on the digital newscast tonight. She seems solid but it was the digital newscast so it's hard to tell. Phil offically retires March 1st so, Jaisol will most likely fill in until he leaves and then she takes his spot on weekend evenings. It's been 1 year since the digital newscasts debuted. The morning one is perfect but, the 7pm(aka the stream team/golden hour/hour of power) is not my cup of tea, but that's my opinion. Also with the 7pm newscast, Cheryl Burton's ditzy behavior is rubbing off on Rob and Greg affecting their other newscasts as well. Mark Giangreco is right about her, she is ditzy and should not be the lead anchor and Rob Elgas shouldn't be the lead anchor as well.

  21. I get it … FTV said today they’re down by half. The people left are probably burned out due to all the OT they’re being asked to work. Understandable in a small market, but not in Houston. Why the hell did they allow it to get that bad? Things aren’t anywhere as dire at any other large market station that I can think of. New ND and GM are both very experienced and have plenty of connections they could work to try to find people. They have (or had) one producer who arrived from tiny Lake Charles many years ago. Certainly there are others who would kill to make a jump like that. Better pay, larger city and a ton of fancy toys to make your shows better, such as their storm tracker and their chopper. Hopefully they can bring back the 4:30a show at some point. Dumping it makes them look weak and a bunch of people were complaining about it on social today, with some folks saying they were switching stations. You can’t help but think the numbers at 5a will drop at least some without local news as the leadin. If people get their start elsewhere each morning, many likely won’t switch when the clock strikes 5.

  22. IF The CW bolts WUAB for WJW 8.2 (or even, heaven forbid, Nexstar buys WBNX to make them a CW O&O)....WUAB would probably morph into 19+, since it's basically been the overrun station for WOIO, and the patent disregard of WUAB itself goes all the way back to Raycom... It's best hope now is to be a news-intensive station to compete against WJW. Then again, if WUAB gets stripped of the CW for WJW, it would leave BOTH WUAB and WBNX without affiliations. The upfronts are going to be REAL interesting this spring....what will Nexstar have up it's sleeve?

  23. Their promos are certainly a lot more interesting than anything on TV today. And I'm not talking about the comedic fake shows. I'm talking about production value of that commercial and even the graphics. I don't care about any of that. There are a lot of crappy people around the world, including us. Put it on TV and if people watch it, good for them. Let the people decide what they want.
