  1. Congratulations to Donald Trump, who has been indicted under all four different CNN graphics variations since the spring. (Yes, I know this is beyond nerdy.)

  2. Just a total guess but it’s likely they’re also upgrading CG systems at the same time, which takes time to install and test before going on air with. I think they are a mix of Vertigo and Viz and who knows what else, they could be trying to upgrade stations to the same system which makes transferring templates easier.

  3. I respectfully but entirely disagree with this. Rosanna’s commentary and interview segments are borderline egregious in terms of bias. Her job at Fox5 is to report the news. It’s not to be an advocate for the restaurant industry of which she has a very clear conflict of interest as a partner in her her family’s restaurant. Especially because she goes out the way to explain how certain actions by the city government might be harmful to her family’s business. It’s unbecoming of a news anchor to brazenly advocate against things that might impact their personal business endeavors.

  4. Can we maybe start an "Anything and Everything Wrong with KTRK" thread, move the relevant posts there, and keep this thread just about the changing graphics at ALL the ABC O&O stations, not just KTRK? When kept on topic, I've found the posts and discussions about what we've seen overall at WLS and in weather on some of the others very interesting.

  5. Well isn't 7pm (6pm C/M) is called "Primetime Access"? I don't see that much difference.

  6. Every O&O is getting the full look. This stuff takes time to implement.

  7. I agree with you that it seems silly to make changes and then nearly revert all the way back after a short time. The main reason for this is that there has been a change in leadership again. The new guy wanted to make his mark on everything and had ideas for improvements. He was let go after just over a year and new new management, which was there under the original management, felt like fixing some things in their eyes, including the graphics and schedule again. I think most viewers won't notice this week's graphics adjustments... Many actually probably didn't even notice the big June 1st change since it was overall pretty similar.

  8. Updating, for outdoor antennas, Televes has excellent performing products now supporting the US market. The Televes Ellipse Mix is good for suburban to distant areas, and the DAT Boss long range models pull in the deep fringe. All include a built in amplifier with automatic gain control to avoid overload and interference, as well as LTE filter. And they have a new version of the classic 8bay UHF antenna with the built in amp and added dipoles for VHF. Check Amazon, Lowe's, Ness Electronics and Solid Signal.

  10. I know I already commented on this thread since the graphics update was announced but here are my thoughts on this, sorry in advance if it goes on a rant/tangent. I don't even know what CNN is doing anymore, it's like for some reason people at the network itself seemed to despise the new look in it's original form that they just had to change it so many times, just for it to look the same pre-update. When you update something, the point of the update is to make that something look DIFFERENT. If we went through all this trouble, just to return back to the pre-Licht graphics then why did we even change them in the first place? Almost everyone on here agreed the update, looked fine enough as it was the little things about it that made it good, like the flipper and the moving of the time, but now that that's been removed, we are left with this mix-match look that just feels out of place. CNN needs actual new lower thirds soon but I fear these updates only push that back.

  13. Also, that means three out of four of the existing indies (KTXA, WBFS, WSBK and WLNY) will be airing it in primetime as well. Not KCAL, for obvious reasons.

  14. And.....seattle11.com, boston38.com, florida33.com and sacramento31.com. I strongly doubt every station will go with these brandings. "KCAL" (& even "KCAL 9" ftm) is a stronger brand than a generic "Los Angeles 9" or "LA 9". Sad that "california9.com" was already taken.....

  17. Not anymore. The sale to RNN is off. ShopHQ's new white knight is a company owned by the founder of 5-Hour Energy. More from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. And this guy is just getting started. It looks like he's looking to be a major-minor player in broadcast media.
