  1. My new book "Here Now the News" is now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I interviewed dozens of people who shared many memories and ancedotes about the legendary New York City newscasters.

  2. A March Madness without Charles Barkley is unthinkable for CBS Sports and David Berson

  3. This tells me that he already has inside info that TNT won't be retaining any sort of NBA contact. I'm sure that will be revealed shortly after the NBA Finals end, and then TNT will gear up for its farewell season.

  4. If we’re going to complain about stations wasting money on sets, I don’t think this is the example. This is replacing a set that was more than 10 years old and had very few modifications to it. (Looks like in those pictures too that they are even saving the updated video wall from the outgoing set for something else.) At a certain point, things get old and outdated and need to be replaced. What KCNC just put in there is nice, modern, and not particularly excessive or opulent. Plus, as others pointed out, they probably saved some money on design by reusing the KCAL designs. I don’t think replacing a 10-year-old set with something functional, modern, and not over-the-top like what KCNC did here is a bad decision at all. If we’re going to talk about irresponsible excess, look no further than KDVR. They replaced a set that was what, barely three years old with something that has so many monitors that it probably cost a lot more than it looks. And the end product has terrible lighting and looks worse than what it replaced.

  5. Yes, sets don't need to match graphics. Sometimes a graphics package looks old but a set looks fine (ex Today updating their graphics but keeping their set in 2009). But, on many of the abc o&o stations, both graphics and set happened to reach its outdated point simultaneously. In that case, they might as well update both to improve the overall aesthetic. The only station that a studio update wouldn't make sense for is WABC since they are moving facilities.

  6. I'd argue that if you set runs $200-$300K, you should invest that in more journalists.

  7. Brad Edwards is out, according to FTV Live. No reason given and his bio is in fact removed from WBBM’s website.

  8. Everything looks great and thanks for keeping the faith and going the extra length to keep the forum going. There isn't anything like it elsewhere.

  9. Come on. They're at least doing better than KSHB. Aren't they?

  10. Is it possible that TNT could just air some games nationally during the regular season, without the playoffs at a reduce amount of $ so that they can remain in business with the NBA instead of just being on the production side of things running NBATV for the NBA?
