  1. It's a day that rivals only Christmas -- the WBNX fall schedule is out! https://www.wbnx.com/fall-schedule New: Flip Side, Abishola, True Crime News Gone: King of Queens, at least I think that's it from weekdays.

  2. This is part of a larger corporate mandate by Tegna. All Tegna stations (with the exceptions of their largest markets or those they deem as having "legacy branding") are required to start this initiative by mid-July. No exceptions. All weather branding will be [station] Weather Impact. Yes, it's a direct copy of Hearst, Sinclair, Gray, Nexstar...with "alert day" branding for impactful weather events. Why they decided this needed to be done now and so many years after competing companies is bizarre to me, but what consultants say to do is what gets done. That said, every station has their own say in what exactly constitutes a "weather impact alert day."

  4. This fandom is so out of touch with real life if you're judging a news set to be a dud because it doesn't have all the bells and whistles and zooming graphics like the Fucking WSVN Newsplex. It's always, always, always fucking style over substance.

  5. Kind of wish WUSA would either change the station logo color, or everything else in the bar to match. My ADHD is tingling. KHOU also has the new branding.

  6. Then provide an example, please. That way, someone with a good ear can maybe identify it.

  7. For your planned events like Super Bowl/Olympics: The network broadcasting the event will offer their stations access to a live/standup location, transmission facilities, high-speed internet, feeds of the event, and workspace for a cost. A friend of mine at an NBC affiliate told me the overall cost NBC is charging stations for this in Paris for the 2024 games is in the tens of thousands of dollars per person. Anyone else going may have access for a fee with a credential to a media workspace from the organizers, but not much more. Same for your political conventions/debates/inaugurations minus the network exclusivity part. Anything else: Pack your bags, grab your LiveU/TVU/DeJero, and either get the crew to the airport or get on the road and hope for the best.

  8. I'll miss The King of Queens in syndication. WPSG has been airing it for probably 20 years straight. I like American Housewife too, but that show was only in local syndication for two years. Also, I was expecting True Crime News to be a full hour (like Crime Watch Daily was), but the WBNX schedule has it sharing an hour with iCrime. I wonder where the FOX O&Os will be putting it.

  9. Almost like the trade was a part of the plan all along. I really believe they used WJZY as a guinea pig with the Hey, Hey Carolinas and never intended to keep the stations long term. Your second statement….the Panthers were actually playing better when FTS owned them. The Rivera/Kuechly/Cam years were under FTS ownership. Almost like they wanted to build up the team. Now obviously the sale of the station had nothing to do with the ownership change. But the sale to Tepper and the culture changed for the worse right about the time Nexstar bought the stations. So I guess you could say FTS made a good decision when it comes to NFC markets. WJZY has come out all right under Nexstar but the Panthers under Tepper…not so much.

  10. Fox did such a poor job in Charlotte with "Fox Carolinas", "Fox 46" and whatever else....that trading for Seattle and Milwaukee was almost a certainty. Besides the Panthers have had a rough time in the NFC.

  11. Yes, hence why Fox re-acquired WITI - part of a deal to get KCPQ/KZJO (Seahawks) - twelve years after offloading it to a private equity group in 2007. They did have to sacrifice another NFC market in Charlotte (WJZY/WMYT) to make it happen though.

  12. Hence why Fox dumped WJW (Browns), WDAF (Chiefs), KDVR (Broncos), KTVI (Rams at the time), WITI (distant market for the Packers) as well as non-NFL markets like Salt Lake City, Greensboro and Birmingham. The only reason Memphis was kept was likely LocalTV's desire not to re-sell WREG to another owner, so Fox kept Memphis until the KTVU/WFXT swap and Cox got WHBQ as a consolation prize.

  14. I think you misunderstood. Fox’s strategy was to own the Fox station in every NFC market. The Patriots are an AFC team. Fox holds the rights primarily to the NFC. It made having a station in SF more attractive than in Boston. It’s about keeping the advertising $$$ for themselves.

  15. The Miami TV market is a more serious news market compared to Denver and even though the newsplex idea is a little bit over the top and other news outlets copied it, that is what made WSVN unique and the quality of the journalism there is what makes it the news leader in South Florida. As for KMGH, they have been doing the neighborhood news thing and Scripps has been cutting costs lately so it doesn’t really matter if the set is small or not.

  19. Rip Inside the NBA Shaq, Kenny, Ernie, and Charles are an unbreakable duo they could buy the rights of the show and move it to NBC, but Ernie has said he's not leaving TNT since he's been there forever and has done other sports for them. But he could be at NBC and still be with TNT but he doesn't wanna leave I see the other 3 going to NBC but that still wont bring back the magic becasue Ernie is the godfather and the glue to the 4 on inside the NBA so without him it isn't much. That show at times was more entertaining than the games itself, it made people who didn't like basketball they some how made it interesting still. While I hope they bring back Roundball Rick which is the old NBA on NBC theme nothing can compare to those 4 i'll never be the same again.
