  1. You meant Sade and Diana Williams. Tappy Phillips never anchored at channel 7.

  2. Same for Shepard Smith. I wish Shep was anchor of The CBS Evening News.

  3. FMBC is moving WINK-TV/FM and its other broadcast properties to a new location in Fort Myers. https://winknews.com/2023/08/03/wink-tv-buys-new-headquarters-for-18-5-million-in-gateway/?fbclid=IwAR3Yyw6O2ZTVoHxkWrLeA89O1SMpK5Be8Ej_NekLrvaQg5PNhTHpSJndUFI_aem_AaMEvmtuQXLZePPjjqtvctHajRDZI7uLCJtrqfGxDuaq1AlZXiLX22uIxa63Kek3tRk&mibextid=Zxz2cZ

  4. No moves are made at WABC without long, hard, thought-out consideration. Talent and rapport are very important at chance 7. Sade will get top billing on the 11pm. Mike might get it at 5pm. When I say “lead anchors” this is still something that exists at channel 7. Bill, who lives on the UWS during the week is always on call- no matter the time of day, should a big story break. On the day of the attempted Trump assassination, both Ritter and Marza came in on a day off to anchor. Sade and Mike were sent to Philly to cover the debate on ABC. This is all being done to get viewers used to seeing Mike, and there isn’t the belief that Bill is being forced out, which has been the case with other senior anchors in NYC. This has been in the making for many years. Mike was hired for weekend mornings knowing he would eventually get the 11pm show. He just happened to take on a larger role earlier on when the Ken Rosato firing happened. Bill turns 75 next year. Mike is much younger, which is why he was chosen - he can stay in the role and maintain stability for years to come. Much like Bill Ritter did when replacing Bill Beutel. Lee Goldberg is only 52, and will maintain his presence in evenings for years to come as well. Don’t expect Shirleen to move from mornings. She is where she belongs. Much like Joe Torres and Michelle Charlesworth being weekend fixtures, she excels at morning and moving her to another time slot could be disastrous.

  5. I still don't like how there “lead anchor” in local news what’s the point of that? Do they have a say in the newscast I can never get an explanation from anyone in the business. That is why I ask about talent order because my questions aren't being answered.

  6. Bears Blitz has made the move upstairs to the newly renovated Studio 32. Not sure if the renovation is complete as this is only part of the overall studio space. Nevertheless, I like what I see.

  7. At least the longest-running anchoring duo in WABC-TV history will be around for a little while longer.

  8. Regarding GMA First Look and its sister program World News Now, I've just done some research and something is fascinating about the current anchor pairing. Andrew Dymburt and Rhiannon Ally have anchored both programs since August 2022. That's two years and two months by the time October ends. Why am I mentioning this? If they stick together through the rest of this month, they will tie the May 2008-July 2010 pairing of Jeremy Hubbard and Vinita Nair of two years and two months... of being the longest-running anchoring duo in the history of World News Now and next month will top it. Yes, that program has been around for 32 years, but considering the time the program is on (overnights or as WNN likes to call them, insomniacs), its always a revolting turnover in terms of anchors, and pairings never-ever last long. Some last a few months, others a year and a few months, but the former pair and the current one are the only ones that have ever lasted the past two years with Andrew and Rhiannon possibly making history next month during the holidays. Weird research? Yes. Somewhat irrelevant? Yes. Interesting nonetheless? Oh absolutely. But I just wanted to offer my thoughts on something I've noticed.

  9. I think folks forget CBS had tried to lure Williams to head up the evening news in the past, and, was rebuffed. Not sure anything has changed (other than more chaos at CBS with budget cuts, headcount reductions, and the pending purchase). Plus, does Williams even want to go back to the daily grind now that he hasn't been doing that for 2 years? I also would assume that he would want much more than his ending salary at MSNBC, and that could be an issue for CBS today, considering the current plan is a lower cost option.

  10. I think Brian leading CBS News could make the evening news broadcast instantly more competitive. People love him.

  11. Minor graphical observations. I like how NBC and MSNBC are navigating showing off their branding plus the competition's. The MSNBC box is more seamless compared to the redundant double lines that other networks like FOX News are using. Is this how presidential debates will be in future elections? One network controlling the event and simulcasting it to others?

  12. As we discuss the big free agent talent out there it’s probably wise to consider the state of broadcast media right now. I’d like an outside splashy hire but networks likely aren’t paying that kind of money on a roll of dice hire like they used to especially when there’s proven talent already in the building. I guess I also just don’t see an appetite being there for personalities who are not currently working because of ratings woes. Meredith was a moderator on the #1 daytime talk show when NBC snagged her. Norah was a prominent correspondent of the most watched network when CBS snagged her. Soledad O’Brien was weekend host of the most watched morning show when CNN took her. Just feels like those type of hires are of the past. Craig, Lauren, Peter Alexander, etc are all more than capable as any of the names mentioned and are already on the payroll.

  13. I'm surprised the Trailblazers agreed to a deal with Sinclair, given their involvement in the Bally Sports mess. Then again, if it's a partnership (like many of the Gray deals and the Marquee/Cubs partnership), that's the way of the future as opposed to RSNs owned by an entity not connected with the teams it carries.

  14. ABC Australia after almost a decade, has a new look, including new graphics and they brought back their iconic theme from the 80's-90's.

  15. Tallahassee is about as backwoods as a state capital can be, especially for Florida. Sinclair could have capitalized on that, but they didn't. Instead, you have WCTV and whatever's left of WTXL when Scripps stops stripping it (and their sister stations) for parts. Meanwhile, the less media, the better for all of the state politicians who bow down to Lord DeSantis and his regime over Florida.

  16. An overdue upgrade for WINK and absolutely necessary for any possible sale in the future. No company in their right mind (or their insurance company) would take on that building after Ian. Oddly enough, they were committed to a future in that building until a few weeks before Ian. If you look at Fort Myers building permits - they shelved a plan just a few weeks before the storm to add a studio to the northwest side of the building—the part of the building closest to the creek and water.
