  1. This set has been one of my favorites for a long time, and I think it aged really well. It’ll be interesting to see the refresh. Since a new GM has taken over, KGO has taken a more traditional, meat and potatoes approach to news, so I’m guessing the end result will be pretty conservative in design.

  2. The meteorology community is not too happy, because Accuweather decided, for "public awareness" purposes, to misinform the public about this weekend's Nor'easter, and label it as a 'tropical' storm. I suppose accuweather will do anything to get those clicks... but seriously, I can only imagine how credible TV mets that have to use the accuweather branding feel after this.

  3. The KGO set looks like an abandoned art gallery/museum/office space turned news set...

  5. Birmingham's "most improved" station, WIAT, is celebrating 60 years on the air... https://www.cbs42.com/video/celebrating-60-years-of-cbs-42/11176687 Given it's tortured history during it's days at WBMG, I'd say they did a good job covering it's past before it was literally "blown up" by Media General as WIAT. New Vision and LIN had some great years when Media General traded up to (tank) WVTM, but it's recovered nicely under Nexstar's ownership to become a fixture in the market. Hearst undid Media General's damage at WVTM, while James Spann 33/40 soldiers on with him still doing the weather despite Sinclair's ownership.

  6. This is a Karen we can all love... 30 years of Karen Borta at KTVT Fort Worth is today. October 16, 1995 was her debut. I was born 10 days later. Her tenure there is older than me. https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/cbs-news-texas-anchor-karen-borta-celebrates-30-years-with-the-station/?fbclid=IwY2xjawNeB41leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHu_imbtDkTRECAzspATgUMqW1JPC3F8a5S_VdN9FypH_SHZeEWB44CTp1a2w_aem_7wzhf4uXqGwnZp1WxWUqFA

  8. As of September 29th, the NBC American Crimes diginet is now NBC True CRMZ. Yes, that's exactly how they spell Crimes in their name.

  10. Any other O&Os doing this yet? Just saw WCBS with a new "Super 7 Day Forecast." My favorite part is that the low temperature is now aligned to show that it occurs in the morning. (When it was below the high temp, I think it was natural to assume it happens chronologically at night.) Rain chance looks to be a permanent feature now. Other stations have been doing this forever. There's also a night percent which is kind of hard to read. They also have the average high and low. I'm not sure when it happened but they updated the icons at some point. When this look debuted, the weather conditions were too vague and seemed like background images, I like having information but this seems rather cluttered now with a wide variety of font sizes, including some tiny text. Previous look from the noon broadcast for comparison: Edit: Strangely, they seemed to use the 7-day from the noon broadcast at 5:51 p.m. The old format, older numbers...

  11. WDJT is also 5, 9, 605 and 1005 on cable and fiber systems in Milwaukee which, IMO, is another reason to ditch the 58 brand. They can even flip call signs between their properties and have CBS Milwaukee on WMLW and ditch WDJT for their indy station. Lots of interesting brand opportunities to consider but they’ve never been strong in marketing. Anyway, to go back on topic, WDJT slightly modified the last O&O look for their morning show but they’ve kept the teal for this look.
