  1. I mean hell, Gray would've been perfect for WLNE as well (considering that they also have a presence in New England).

  2. WBBH/WZVN has beaten WINK in the ratings for a number of years now and it looks like that will continue. I see their ratings tripling over WINK with this news.

  3. And may WBBH/WZVN wipe the floor with WINK in the ratings.

  4. To the moderators... if you wanna find the WINK-TV and Matt Devitt posts and put it in a new thread, that would be great. I have more to showcase. Is anyone shocked that the McBride family (WINK) donated to Jim Schwartzel (WXCW and Sun)'s campaign for Congress? I know I'm not. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1483850663740884&id=100063478933238 And boy is he dumb, stupid, and dishonest. Of course he has no role in FMBC but still has a role inside WINK operations because its a sidecar company for FMBC! Boy does he think we're dumb but we can see right through it. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1483537757105508&id=100063478933238 The scandal continues and I'm all in on these latest developments.

  5. Mostly true. The only difference I noticed was the OTS inserts were from the new graphics. The difference to that is subtle enough with the biggest difference being the bolder font. The remainder of the newscast was (refreshingly) the same.

  6. The New York Times wrote about what's going on (gift link): https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/13/business/media/cbs-evening-news-bari-weiss.html?unlocked_article_code=1.EFA._c1e.qPy2fUCEvrlE&smid=url-share

  7. Pardon my French, but this is the kind of stuff only scumbags and Scrooges would do. Mr. Devitt has every right to sue at this point.

  8. And it actually got Newt Gingrich to respond. The REAL Newt Gingrich too. https://x.com/i/status/2010436094068953303 Did politics play a part in his removal?

  9. No graphic changes to CBS Weekend News, which has retained the same design as the DuBois-Dickerson era, at least for now.

  10. I'll say this about reduced newscasts over the holidays as a former manager who had some role in scheduling for producers: At every station I worked at, the schedule for Thanksgiving through New Year's is made early in the fall with minimal room for things to go wrong, even with fewer newscasts on 12/24, 12/25, 12/31, and 1/1. Almost every year - at least one producer who got Thanksgiving as their holiday off and was scheduled to work 5 day weeks (if not more) through peak Christmas and New Year's vacation time would turn in their resignation and two week's notice the week following Thanksgiving. And all anyone could do was just laugh and adjust. And occasionally come up with creative solutions to keep things afloat as best as possible.

  12. And let's see what happens when Nexstar goes bankrupt because they're the last broadcaster who exists in a given place. Newspapers are at least dying a slow death with the marketplace. Radio has more "variety" even though it's all a bunch of jukeboxes and fringe voices. TV is being murdered against it's own regulations because someone doesn't like the truth being told. Let TV die with the market instead of murdering it by uber-consolidating it. That way, if a station or group goes bankrupt, the market can decide whether or not to bring it back either as a station or group.

  13. I’m impressed — the CNBC host (kinda) did his homework. As a former TEGNA employee, I’m not sure how to feel about this. It wasn’t corporate ‘dictating the news’ like Sinclair, but their attempts to reimagine local stations and micromanage operations mostly flopped in market after market. My friends at mid- and small-market Nexstar stations seem relatively content, while those in bigger markets are less so, though that usually comes down to local management more than corporate. I'm curious how they're going to mesh together two somewhat unstable news operations in DC...

  14. I’m not a fan of the black and gold graphics but when it comes to ratings—compared to WCBS, KCBS, and WBBM—KDKA is special.

  15. Why do people hate the odd color that KDKA has for their graphics? I don't get it. BTW, I actually would love if CBS did a Red and blue Texas theme for KTVT.

  16. UPDATE (x2) I'll leave this for what it is. From X but it comes from @NewtGingrich. I don't know if all of this is 100% true, but if this is what he got fired for, then SHAME on WINK-TV for doing so.
