  1. The landmark doppler balls that TV stations own(ed) and used to flaunt in marketing long ago are almost as extinct as helicopters and editorials. Lest we forget the problems of being inside of a "doppler dead zone" And all of the benefits of Doppler 4000 crammed into a concise 3 minutes of promo gold...

  2. I also co-sign on Joe Holden. I like him and his certain type of serious style of reporting. I enjoyed his filling in as anchor on Memorial Day and I think the station made the right choice there. He should fill in a lot more. I think she's an alright weekend anchor, but I think she hasn't gelled in the position yet and needs time to gel. Maybe the producers could pair her with Holden and see where this goes. He needs more time at the desk and this shift is perfect for him.

  3. As much as you think Meredith will cut there losses, they won't. The station is probably the cash cow for Meredith and won't give it up unless and only unless CBS makes them a pretty impressive offer. I am glad for the new ND and I hope he is able to make some great strides with the station and bring forth some of the KVUE ideas and adapt them to Atlanta.

  4. I wonder how much it costs for a station to upgrade their radar system to go HD (assuming that's when they stopped using it) compared to purchasing a new system from WSI or Baron (I heard it's about $100,000 for the computers) and $5000/month for data? I also imagine that the data and services provided by the updated NWS and TDWR systems is of a much better quality than a stations radar. I believe WJZ is the only station that operates their own radar in Baltimore. The other three rely on NWS radar from Philadelphia, Dover, DE and Sterling,VA. TDWR from BWI Airport and Andrews AFB. I don't think it's that big of a deal here as all of the radar sites are within 100 miles or so of each other.

  5. Apparently they're bringing in the weekend crew at 9 & 10 tonight they gave Mark and Micah (and tom) the day off. They'll be sending Rich King off, tonight, as well. (Hence the reason Bob and Jackie are there)

  6. Terrell and Judy will anchor at 11, technically continuing the current arrangement. Tracy's along for the ride, but that was all but a given. http://abc7chicago.com/entertainment/abc-7-chicago-to-launch-1100-am-newscast-june-27th/1387154/

  7. Totally agree. I honestly think Joe Holden, the new reporter they got like 3 weeks ago should anchor. He filled in for Jim on Memorial Day and was great.

  9. I don't know if I'll go that far on that last line. Calling the buzzworthy, fear mongering, sky is falling stories "news" still doesn't make them news. So, yes, I did do a double take when he made that statement, but then he immediately started talking about Johnny Depp's divorce, and I turned off the TV and threw it out my window.
