  1. It's going to be a fine. There is a 0% chance that any political party, despite how loud they pander to their base, is going to force one of the largest owners of a dying medium to break up.

  2. A potential worst-case scenario would be the breakup of Sinclair much like Adelphia (under bankruptcy due to their fraud) where their cable systems were largely divided between Time Warner and Comcast. There's plenty of broadcasters who could snatch up some extra stations should they be forced on the market. They need their day in court because of not only their Tribune antics, but other ownership games they've played before and gotten away with. Throw the book at 'em, Sonny!

  3. Let's all understand something about TV... When you go on the air and trash your employer, it's policies or practices ...EXPECT a bad outcome. You may not agree, but they sign your paycheck. If viewers want to revolt that's fine. But, don't expect some judge to entertain a wrongful termination suit based on publicly trashing your employer, while on their dime, and using their toys. And you wonder why stations won't let most on-air employees say "good bye" when the contract ends? I wish him luck...but if you come on my TV station and trash my station or programs you can expect to see the door...and maybe a boot up your ass. ...and once you pull some stunt like that , the station management of other stations won't trust you on-air...no matter how popular you were at you last gig.

  6. WABC does a good job when it covers traffic and traffic breaking news. This morning there was a traffic breaking news with 75 min delays on the GWB including a 3 car fender on the West Side Highway coming off the bridge and they were first on scene. On the radio side: WCBS Newsradio 880 is definitely the best when it comes to traffic coverage. I feel WCBS is lacking the talent of traffic reporters since WABC and WNBC seems to be doing pretty well when it comes to that part of the department. Do all 3 stations share the same chopper heliport in Linden NJ?

  7. As someone who drives 35 miles each way to and from work each day, I use the traffic reports on TV and radio to alert me of any issues there may be out there. While it's true that in many cases the incident is gone by the time you get there, at least you are prepared that there may be a delay. I still think traffic reports are essential for the early morning commute.

  8. One of the big rule changes I could see take place (and this may or may not take affect until after the Elections next year nut could also occure beforehand) is the elimination of using sidecars to skirt around FCC rules/regulations (which would likely result in a lot of virtual triopolies and quadropolies being broken up) That's not for certain whether it'll happen or not but, I think that's a very real possibility

  9. 2 possible options for the FCC to punish Sinclair should this lead to a hearing: `1. Sinclair faces hefty fine and apologizes (goes back to some sort of normalcy) 2. Sinclair would face the possibility of selling off the stations a la RKO General. As I've been saying since the Tribune merger collapsed last year, Sinclair is going away in ways we haven't seen in our life times for most of us on this forum since many of us on here don't remember what the FCC did to RKO General. Keep in mind, selling stations in a forced liquidation doesn't happen very often but in such cases as this and with RKO General it is warranted. For this reason in MY opinion, Option 2 is the most likely option here. Feel free to disagree if you wish but this is what I've been saying for the past year so I'll stick to what I've been saying

  10. Ann Curry would have been better off remaining on dateline and as the newsreader on today. Had she held out another 4 years she might have currently been anchoring nightly news. As for Campbell Brown perhaps if she stuck around until 2011 she would have been co-anchor of today.

  11. I also think Campbell Brown would have been a good and likely pick. I was always a fan of hers. I don't think it's a coincidence that she left for CNN shortly after Meredith started. She must have had an out in her contract.
