  1. Everytime I go to Central Florida on vacation, my team was always Bob and Martie. Always them, nobody else (even though you can put Jim and Wendy in that convo.) I'm so happy for her but Central Florida will soon lose a gripping, yet important voice in local news in the market. First Bob, now Martie. If I wish for anything, I just hope Bob can come back at least for one more day to join Martie on her final day. That's all I ask. That would be AMAZING to see Bob and Martie together, one final time before the year's up.

  2. Seems when affiliation contracts expire the networks can make it a condition of renewal.

  3. The initial plan from Landmark was to sell WTVF to Bonten. Needless to say, it's good thing they went with Journal instead.

  5. Before they expanded it was always interesting how widely used the "Action News" brand was in Scripps. I always wondered how so many of them came to use it.

  6. It seems like a weird cross of the Tonight Show and View. If Jay is the only host, what is Hollie doing there? She's in the entire show. I give them props for creating something unique with the open and show title. "Lunch Break" isn't a bad name for a midday show at all. The glare on the monitor array needs to be fixed ASAP. Although it's only the first show and changes will have to be made, it still seems doomed to fail.

  7. I handle my own cable bill, but the problem is the way bundling works. I watch nothing on Showtime and only a few shows on Starz a year, but Spectrum won't let me unbundle them from their package (I only got rid of the 'I never watch' Epix when they got new ownership and a new carriage agreement that stopped the bundling), even though they're premium channels that should be optional. I have channels on the higher tier I can't get on the lower tier because Viacom thinks that TV Land is a 'premium' service rather than an ad delivery platform occasionally interrupted by sitcoms, and I watch Younger because it's a favorite show. I like soccer, thus I pay $8/month for the Spanish tier because very few Tigres games are on FS1, even if I never watch the Spanish music video channel. Equipment costs have also gone up; I'm getting rid of their useless DVRs with a TiVo/TiVo Mini system, but that comes with a learning curve with everyone else in the house despite the $25 savings. I'm preparing to move my 25 year-old landline number from Spectrum to Google Voice, but that has to come with a week of AT&T prepaid because a landline/Google Voice transfer doesn't exist. Companies make it hard to switch or move to providers on purpose.

  8. Exactly, but of course I'm stuck with my parents that simply refuse to acknowledge that going to streaming platforms such as YouTube TV and PlutoTV is the cheaper alternative to paying close to $100 for probably half the channels if not more, that we don't even watch. (That's just a guessestimate, I'm not sure exactly how much my parents are paying for DIRECTV now but, whatever the amount is, it's pretty high) It is what it is and there's really nothing I can do about it because obviously I'm not the boss over the house.

  9. Well, Bob did it before, when he joined Martie for the noon on his last day. Who's to say he won't give an encore performance?

  11. Gannett/Gatehouse should really make an effort to acquire the Plain Dealer from Advance. Its a pathetic shell of it's former self like the other Advance properties. They did sell the Times-Picayune to the owners of the Advocate, the paper that spawned as a local edition of the Baton Rouge daily paper when Advance took away daily editions. However, much of the TP's staff was laid off in the merger and the same could be said given Gatehouse's sizeable holdings in Ohio.

  14. Brazil's Record TV, just one year after they last renovated their news set, they decided to tear it down, remove the working newsroom, since it was pretty empty during primetime and build an entirely new set for their flagship newscast, Jornal da Record, which launched last night, with the addition of four short bulletins throughout the day, called Jornal da Record 24 Horas. Here's how the flagship 9:30pm BRT newscast looks like: The first-ever Jornal da Record 24 Horas bulletin (0:30am BRT edition - JR 24H also has bulletins at 11:40am, 4:45pm and 5:45pm): And how JR used to look like: And the close from the temporary green-screen set, last Friday:
