  1. WGN is already in team coverage for storms that aren't even here yet. Severe storms and flooding rains are expected tonight. Tom and Demetrius are already sharing airtime here in the 6pm hour.
  2. Wonder how ESPN will justify the studio space they built in NYC? Just move the morning edition of SportsCenter out there?
  3. Ugh, they went with the italic font from their bowl game coverage. And it totally clashes with the font used for the down, distance, quarter, and time.
  4. Michelle Beadle is exiting Get Up and moving back to Los Angeles, where ESPN will double down on NBA programming featuring her as host. Meanwhile, she will be replaced by rotating guest hosts on Get Up. Get Up will also be reduced by one hour, with that hour returning to SportsCenter. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2018/08/24/michelle-beadle-off-get-up-nba-countdown-returning-to-la/111259542/ It feels like everything that has happened over the past year (Beadle and NBA Countdown moving to NYC, the reduction of SportsCenter, etc.) is slowly being reversed.
  5. Blast from the past tonight. Whoever is directing the Cubs game tonight in Pittsburgh has been using the 2011-2017 WGN Cubs music throughout the entire telecast. The new music was only used for the opener since it's probably built into the opener.
  6. After Burton moved to weekdays, who anchored weekends on ABC 7? Apparently Karen Jordan didn't join the station until July 2003. Did Jordan assume the weekend anchor duties immediately, or did it take a while?
  7. It has been deleted. What was it?
  8. I assume Phil will be in for Tracy Monday and Tuesday before things reset to normal on Wednesday.
  9. Heck, most stations across the country can't justify a second anchor at noon, let alone a third or fourth.
  10. No, Larry was anchoring when I watched during the 7am hour.
  11. Marcus Leshock is anchoring all 6 hours of the morning news today. Basically half of their on-air staff seems to be off today.
  12. Hosea was in the hospital? What happened? I hope he's ok...
  13. They do that in smaller markets. I feel like the responsibility of a top 3 market is to run a late newscast no matter how late it is. If you have to send one of the two anchors home or use substitutions for anchors or the other roles as necessary, you still want to put on a live late newscast if you're a top 3 market.
  14. Alan Krashesky and Cheryl Burton are holding down the fort on the WCIU newscast tonight. It's definitely a funny holiday weekend quirk when the A-team is available, but everyone else is off.
  15. I liked the holiday color scheme during the midday show today. Too bad they're not using it during the evening news.
  16. At the time, that set felt fancy compared to the set they came from before that.
  17. Hard to believe how quickly this week came.
  18. I think he was in Monday and Tuesday this week.
  19. Revision #9037 to the sports graphics: the lower thirds have been changed to a more traditional format instead of trying to fit everything on a single line. This is much better.
  20. As I recall, his on-air shift was weekday afternoons on CLTV. I can only assume he'll still retain that role 2-3 days a week while Tim McGill does the other days.
  21. Good. This does sound like either a permanent change or a sweeps change. It seems better this way.
  22. Joe started at 6pm. Ben apparently did the 5pm because the 4pm news was a quick 7-minute broadcast that was shortened by the Cubs game. Lourdes, on the other hand, only stayed on the air for the quick 7-minute newscast and finished after that. Micah started at 5pm. Looks like Tom Skilling is off the entire night.
  23. Aren't we still in Sweeps? Surprised to see Joe Donlan and Tom Skilling off tonight. Maybe they caught an ugly May sickness like I did this weekend.
  24. They want to make sure that nobody knows how many runners are on base.
  25. Agreed. This one seems like a bad idea.
