  1. As I recall, his on-air shift was weekday afternoons on CLTV. I can only assume he'll still retain that role 2-3 days a week while Tim McGill does the other days.
  2. Good. This does sound like either a permanent change or a sweeps change. It seems better this way.
  3. Joe started at 6pm. Ben apparently did the 5pm because the 4pm news was a quick 7-minute broadcast that was shortened by the Cubs game. Lourdes, on the other hand, only stayed on the air for the quick 7-minute newscast and finished after that. Micah started at 5pm. Looks like Tom Skilling is off the entire night.
  4. Aren't we still in Sweeps? Surprised to see Joe Donlan and Tom Skilling off tonight. Maybe they caught an ugly May sickness like I did this weekend.
  5. They want to make sure that nobody knows how many runners are on base.
  6. Agreed. This one seems like a bad idea.
  7. I can't believe they decided to make the score graphic even smaller.
  8. Two notes for WGN Sports... 1) Apparently "Tuesday Night Baseball" is a new ad campaign. They apparently have Cubs or White Sox games scheduled for most Tuesdays throughout the season. 2) They have made some improvements to the graphics package and have bolded the statistics to help them stand out better.
  9. Bent on making the overall concept of the score graphic work, they have inverted the color scheme in hopes that it will improve visibility of the base and out indicators.
  10. And I would figure Sinclair's response would be, "And there's the door."
  11. Looks like the White Sox presentation is the same as the Cubs. Same blue colors, even the same music. EDIT: The music might have a slightly different tone to it?
  12. Even though the Cubs game went to 11:30 on a Friday night, neither of the anchors went home early, and Tom Skilling is still there. Surprising.
  13. They need to either pick their backgrounds more wisely or put a light-colored box around that black text on the right.
  14. Watching at home on the 70-inch TV...some of the full screen graphics were rough around the edges. Not sure if it can be chalked up to "typical road broadcast issues" or if they need to refine something with their graphics system overall.
  15. April 23rd is the official start date for Joe Donlan, per the ads WGN is running during the Cubs game today.
  16. The rest of the WGN Sports graphics look very beautiful.
  17. Yep, way too much room for the score, yet not enough room to fit "CUBS". Doesn't make sense. Agreed about the colored team names. Everyone does that now because it looks better. The gray background for the team names is bland.
  18. There's a point where flat is too flat. This is too flat. Their score graphic from like 2003 had more personality than this.
  19. At least that looks somewhat clean. Hate to say it, but the best work so far has been the promotional graphics.
  20. I just tweeted them about how bad the out indicators are. Can't even see them clearly from my couch. You can't even intuitively tell that those little blue things on the side are supposed to indicate outs.
  21. Well, they decided to debut the apparent score graphic today. Very flat and basic.
  22. Came here to talk about this. I'll have to DVR the game on Thursday so I can check it out at home that night.
  23. Patrick Elwood anchored the WGN Evening News alongside Micah tonight.
  24. It's hard to get excited about WBBM. It's a shame that nothing really works for them. It's like they rotate GM/ND every so many years, then rotate female anchors, then rotate GM/ND again, rinse and repeat.
  25. Is it safe to assume that the show is dying due to the timeslot? I feel like WCL is past it's prime.
