  1. He'll probably be covering the Trenton Bureau. That had been reporterless for a little while now with Cydney and Ted covering stories from there.
  2. Everyone in the market went early this morning. WCAU and WTXF started at 3 and normally start at 4, KYW and WPVI at 4 and normally go on at 4:30. It's not that big a deal. Our AM rush believe it or not does start around 4:30-5ish so to be on that early really isn't outlandlandish esp when 3AM was the predicted height of the storm.
  3. Yeah we got about 5 inches in and around the city.
  4. It's going through PHL's master control though so it very well be different equipment being used. What happens is instead of running that feed to their own master control, what 6 is doing is sending that feed either via fiber or microwave to 17's MC who then broadcasts the newscast.
  5. Actually they switched in June of '11 coinciding with when they refreshed Look C.
  6. Eww it looks like they regressed back to Accuweather's weather system. They had been using TruVu Max since they launched their current graphics package.
  7. http://www.360musicproduction.com/nbcono/ The way Arnold/Chad Cook produces packages it wouldn't surprise me if the number of cuts in this package pushes 500. There's 5 different main themes and like 10 other franchise themes all with numerous submixes. WCAU only ever edited together the original cut they used for a bump. The theme they used/are using is a min long.
  8. Yup (sorta. They're using a stripped version this time with the full theme unlike that loop they used before). We talked about it in the No Emotion Box earlier this week. I hope they bring it back in earnest with a few changes in cut selection.
  9. It's from the original LA Groove package. I like it.
  10. I misread that. I thought you were referring to Sarah who works Sunday-Thursday.
  11. Imagine if your employer told you to work a 7 day work week.
  12. Interesting. You wouldn't happen to have an idea as when it'll debut would you?
  13. Good find on the new hires. They haven't had a true reporter for The Valley since Stacey Stauffer left the station. Good to see that filled. They have been using George Spencer for investigative pieces a lot lately so I guess him Harry and Mitch will make up the investigative unit. It was mentioned earlier that the weather center is staying put. That's not a bad thing either. It's really held up well for being 10 years old.
  14. Doubt it. Their recent track record has been to debut new things at 11AM or 4PM and they've usually have been on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. I think this set change is more extensive than we all originally thought. It's been about a month now since they've been on the temp set now and if it were just a refresh I think it would have been done by now.
  15. Like I mentioned earlier, I smacks of monkey see, monkey do. 10's sports department is the market's one and only RSN and their sports hits are done from their newsroom so I guess they want their sports hits to have that same prestige but they fell quite a bit short.
  16. If you watch the promo for the "Sports Center" they have a few "fly on the wall" shots of it and that's nothing but a corner of the sports department. It's a really crappy setup. Also one head scratcher. If they're gonna call it the Sports Center, how the heck do they not co-brand it with corporate sister ESPN? I'm quite sure a couple phone calls could get the real Sportscenter logo and maybe some music over there and make it look like it wasn't some half baked idea. I'm sure this was conceived partially in reaction to NBC10 and CSN's partnership but it just seems rushed and poorly executed.
  17. I think it has something to do with them wanting to have full control over their graphics with their fancy Viz system. Went they moved to the new building they took their old graphics package and redrew the CG elements in house instead of going to Giant Octopus and having them redo them. The results were quite amateurish.
  18. They pretty much shit their pants when 10 bought Skyforce 10 last year. I can imagine the meeting of how this little brain storm came to be. Something to the effect of "oh no we're not the only one with unique aerials anymore. Quick how do we make Chopper 6 stand out? We can't put a reporter in the chopper. 10 already does that. We can't cover as much ground in the air as 10 does cause their chopper is better. I know let's put a 360 panorama camera on it that the viewers can play with! Brilliant!"
  19. 6's latest thing has been to buy shiny new toys, claim they were the first to have them, then barely use them to their potential. What gets me is how they tried snow their viewers over yesterday constantly saying "you control the camera!". Ummm no.
  20. The weather center dates back to 2004. They installed it during the Olympics and gave the news set a small refresh as well.
  21. They did have 3. One was converted into the current newsroom. The other survives today and the third was where the two radio stations resided til CBS moved them across the street.
  22. Awesome. They're probably going to keep the general look and feel of the current set but add in those new elements. I wonder if they're going to add some useful space in there cause in its current iteration there is a lot of empty space behind the anchors that never got to really be used cause the robotic cameras couldn't access it properly.
  23. What ever they're up to looks like it isn't effecting the weather center too much. They're still doing the weather from there (although they aren't using the virtual weather set which is done on a huge full length green screen just to the right of the news desk). That said I can see them installing a video wall backdrop like a few of their sister stations have adopted and doing something about that monitor array that never really served any purpose.other than as a backdrop to some standups
