  1. Nah, they're produced by CSN and broadcast on NBC10, no simulcast so holding back ending the telecast till 11 wouldn't have held up anything CSN was doing (which would have been broadcasting Phillies Post Game Live).
  2. Actually it would have made more sense to have the baseball telecast fill the extra 3 mins. They could have easily run highlights or just vamped for 3 mins.
  3. Actually WCAU has two anchors and a reporter at the RNC.
  4. Also its more suited for the morning show or even the noon or 5PM shows. Not the 11.
  5. Hopefully its in the dumpster where it belongs.
  6. They could be holding out for the Olympics. They just released a couple new promos for various things and they either have elements of Look F or use Gotham as the primary font. I doubt if they were close to launching, they crank out any new promos with the old look.
  7. That is something that has plagued them ever since they merged the radio stations in with them and went to that WordPress platform.
  8. My rant about WPVI and its viewers wasn't directed at anyone in particular. It actually was more directed at the station itself and how it's managed to snow over its viewers buy just mailing it in these past few years and their current image campaign reflects it, probably because feel the heat from WCAU. When you have to put out promos that essentially say "Watch Us Cause that's What You're Used to and Change is Scary", you clearly have a stale product.
  9. I guess when in doubt blame Comcast right? I'm not in any business to defend Comcast but you need to be corrected. Comcast's only hand in this was funding the festivities along with Wawa. The city and specifically the mayor shoulder the most blame in this. They are the ones that booked the acts (and pissed off The Roots). They're the ones that also decided shoot fireworks into a cloudy rain-filled sky even though they knew what the weather forecast was. I hope you know light helicopters like the ones used for newsgathering and rain don't mix right? Vai and Tracy were fine and looked like they were having fun. You can read my rant from earlier about what think about people's obsession with WPVI. Well you should direct your anger to Jim Kenney and his team of organizers that bungled this up, not Comcast.
  10. Probably more of a hassle to deploy a marine vessel than it is to just run a truck somewhere. Also they have more money to spend than they know what to do with so it's not as if buying that hurt them very much if at all.
  11. We get a little of everything in every season so having a live radar site, a mobile one at that is pretty handy. As far as the how they plan on presenting the data, if there is a big storm they need to track, I would think they wouldn't worry about processing the data for smoothing. This one has an actual radar sweep one board. Stormforce 10 is essential a mobile weather conditions reporting station. The Jeep is actually called Newsforce 10 and that's just a mobile newsroom where a reporter can rove around and report from the passenger seat while their photog drives around showing the scene.
  12. Side note to that, new mayor Jim Kenney pissed off The Roots when they were putting the concert together, that's why they weren't a part of the show this year. Also in years past they were instrumental in getting big names to do the concert. As to people not knowing what channel to find the concert, that is just pathetic. Sometimes I think people in this town think WPVI is the only station in the market and it's an indictment of the intellect of their viewership.
  13. Here's the morning open and KYW's traditional 5AM station ID:
  14. Here we go: They're no longer using the morning cut of Enforcer for opens and there's actual city footage in the open and not some still picture composited over some stock sky animation. Also they're now IDing individual newscasts. They had gotten away from that for awhile. Big improvement for them.
  15. We discussed this a few pages back when this open debuted. It's only for the morning show.
  16. Would you say this is brand new package or a refresh of the current look along the lines of what is being used in LA & Chicago?
  17. Maybe their goal is to bring back PM Magazine lol
  18. They made a big thing about it a couple Fridays ago. It's a regular segment at the bottom of the hour during the 4PM. It's good to see that they've gotten back into the consumer news game as they seemed to had gotten away from it when Tracy moved to mornings.
  19. She's filling in for Jackie who did a sit down interview with Joe Biden this afternoon. They mentioned Jackie would be back at 6. That said their main anchor team is set. Jim, Jackie and Glenn in the afternoons and sub Glenn for Sheena at 11. The only vacancy is who will pair up with Keith Jones at 5.
  20. That's an inevitability as WPVI's viewership literally dies off.
  21. WCAU snaked the Welcome America festivities from WPVI: http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Comcast-NBCUniversal-becomes-media-partner-in-Wawa-Welcome-America-festival-376752211.html They now corner the market on the city's fireworks shows. WWSI will cover the events en espaƱol.
  22. If anything, I could see this being a precursor of them picking up Look F 2.0. I don't think they want to make any major changes til they move downtown next year. There really isn't much of a point in doing so.
