See the "The News Tonight" era. That's basically what they were going for back then and it bombed miserably.

That would have been awesome although I think the muted reds and oranges probably would have clashed with the mostly gold and teal set. I'd be interested in seeing what the insert elements would have looked like but I doubt they ever got that far.

If it's a Friday, yes. The other days of the week they'll have someone fill in.

They used it as the backdrop for the news set during their postgame show/newscast last night.

Late spring/early summer depending on when the building is cleared for occupancy.

Probably the fact that it's a 3 hour show now.

As I mentioned above, my guess is (and I'm just speculating based on the job opening they have currently posted for a meteorologist) Glenn is retiring soon so they would just wait til that happens to have any real baton passing.

Glenn must be retiring soon which is why there is a posting on the careers site.

Maybe, maybe not. It appears they're working on the floors they'll be occupying. I'm following the building construction closely and the most recent timeline I've seen is that an official topping off is scheduled for late this year (like November).

NBC10 is calling victory at 11PM in the May book:

Krystal Klei. Hurricane Schwartz currently does the 11AM. Unless Glenn or Bill are retiring I doubt anyone else is leaving since they've all only been here for less than a year. Who knows.

They have to be. Just judging from this shot here, they've either walled off the rest of the studio or there's nothing there at all.

Looks like they ripped up the main area of the set including the video wall and the crystalline skyline. I guess after 8 years of the same set and graphics they figured it's finally time for something new.

They also have access to WPVI's chopper footage if needed. I guess they bought the drone to cut down on having to rely on that.

You can squeeze two 720p HD subs on one channel and have room for an additional 480p. So you'd assume you could get FMZ and LVT in there in HD and WBPH on the 3rd SD channel (I don't even think they can spell HD let alone broadcast it) and all should be satisfied. They'd have to move WLVT and WBPH's subs elsewhere though.

It's something they're doing during sweeps. I'm sure this came about out of the relationship they have through the Welcome America Festival.

They've been doing that for a few years now.
