ABC changing their logo; New graphics coming for ABC owned stations
WCAUTVNBC10 replied to Briella's topic in Graphics
It ain't good but it could be much worse. Also can't help but wonder if that's an element from the O&O package or not although it could pass for something from their in-house look as well. -
Jim usually takes the back end of August off so we'll probably see all four in rotation till September.
-
Hopefully now that we have some stability up in corporate, CBS3 can actually keep its staff intact for more than 6 months.
-
They've been doing these since at least 2008. Basically a cheap ploy to try and lure some WCAU viewers over during the games.
-
The MAX Radar uses a dark green base map and multiple radar sweeps on screen. Their StormTracker 6 radar has a single sweep centered north of the city and you'll notice the base map is a much lighter shade of green.
-
It seems like 6 has either stopped using or has gotten rid of its personal StormTracker radar site (which was based in Warrington, PA). They've stopped referencing their "Live Double Scan" radar and only ever use the NWS radar sites using the MAX Weather System (their radar was controlled and presented on air with Baron software). I'm wondering if this was a pandemic cost cutting casualty.

No special color palette for the morning open or on-screen graphics but they're using gold looping graphics on the monitors in studio. Also the weather dept hasn't gotten the package yet:
-
If they had opened the show at the desk, they would have flashed them in the desk's built in monitor. Same thing really.

Night version confirmed:

-
The rejoin is also full length:
-
I hope there's different versions for different dayparts like they did with their Look C refresh and their custom Look F.
-
Tracy mentioned on IG she was filling in for Rosemary Connors who's on vacation. Ted's usually their goto fill in on the weekends in either daypart.
-
Those lowers in the 5PM tease are expanded snipes from Look N's topical promo graphics. I always thought they should have been the standard lowers for that package instead of the whole cable news-esque inserts they went with. That said they clash with Looks S. Also someone should tell them they're two weather packages behind. They're still using the original Look N weather templates.

Looks like they screwed up the keying of the logo. Alpha channels are your friend, people.

Yeah I doubt it will pass regulatory muster. Not in its present form anyway. -
I guess you haven't seen the Philly skyline since before 1984. There's a bunch of notable looking buildings in our skyline these days and this is just a piece of what it features: Comcast Technology Center is what you're referring to. It's the tallest building in Philly now and one of, if not the tallest in the country outside of New York and Chicago.

I see elements of Look N, Look G, and even the Nightly look. It's a really good evolution to Look N that really cleans up the presentation.

The CBS O&O/Peter Dunn scandal detailed the environment of the shop very well.
-
Not to mention we're talking about one or two channels that have virtually no real programing outside of live sports.
-
I think once they get new management at the top of the O&O division then work can be done to fix the individual stations. After what came out earlier this year about Peter Dunn and co esp in relation to how they wanted KYW run, it shows just how deep a hole they're in. I believe they just recently hired a new GM and they certainly have their work cut out for them. It seemed like Brien Kennedy had a good vision for the station going forward but was thwarted by his bosses and ended up leaving as a result (and who could blame him). You can tell the station is hurting for revenues given their recent set "refresh". I'm just guessing, but given the number of other CBS O&Os that have adopted what was originally just WCBS' set, they could get a good deal on it if they wanted a new set, but they chose to just replace all the monitors and Duratrans on what is essentially a 14 year old set. Yes the basic structure and elements of it have been around since they moved in to that building. Only the desk has been fully replaced since then. What they may have to do is beef up the sales department and start selling segments and/or launch a lifestyle show just to generate cash to weather the storm. Stations have recovered from much much worse including this one whose real dark age ran for a good 13 years including the entire 90's into the early 2000s.

As a surprise to no one. RSNs can't survive without at least one major team to partner with.
